My prior kits were actual wires, clasps, batteries, and bulbs. These kits are student friendly and allow them to explore circuits and how electricity works without the supplies or faulty connections getting in the way.\r\n\r\nWhen I pulled out the box of 20 Kits!! The students were excited to be able to work in pairs to create the different circuits. Some of them even mentioned they had a kit at home and how much fun it was.\r\n\r\nThese kits allowed us to build a simple circuit with a switch to show how electricity is used in our homes on a daily basis. They will be able to add things like sounds, a fan, and other moving parts to explore how electricity travels through our homes. We will explore conductors and insulators next to see what electricity can and cannot travel through. As they get older they will expand on this even further and eventually get a hands on experience by wiring mock outlets in 7th grade shop class. This is an amazing intro to electricity.","fullyFundedDate":1748801529641,"projectUrl":"project/electrical-exploration/9374035/","projectTitle":"Electrical Exploration","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Brown","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10040982_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1747926179202","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10040982"},{"teacherId":10040982,"projectId":9371248,"letterContent":"I would like to first thank you for contributing to my new STEM classroom and curriculum. This is a new class the students get to have each week and they are eager and excited for hands on activities, observations, and exploration. \r\n\r\nThe SOLAR BUGS, did just that. They were excited and some of them grossed out when I said we had some bugs to observe and takes notes on. Little did they know, they weren't the typical bug, but a solar bug that vibrates and moves off of energy from the sun. We compared how they moved in the sun versus what happened when they were in the shade or not getting the power they needed. We discussed the different things on Earth that rely on the Sun for survival and how important it is for all of us.\r\n\r\nOur expansion on this will be to talk about solar energy and how on a larger scale we can use that to create energy for our home. We will also tie in solar energy to trees and how they use it to create food through photosynthesis. I'm excited to use these for years to come and continue to engage students in STEM areas.","fullyFundedDate":1747882806663,"projectUrl":"project/solar-bugs/9371248/","projectTitle":"Solar Bugs","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Brown","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10040982_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1747926179202","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10040982"},{"teacherId":8078128,"projectId":9212394,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting my project! The new technology tools you funded have opened doors for students who often struggle to express themselves, especially those who are quiet, shy, or have communication challenges. Whether through voice-recording apps, interactive learning platforms, or text-to-speech tools, students now have more ways to share their thoughts and demonstrate their understanding beyond traditional speaking or writing. This has truly given a voice to students who might otherwise remain unheard.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for our students has been the opportunity to engage with learning in a way that feels personalized and empowering. One of our students, who was previously hesitant to participate in class discussions, now confidently records and shares responses using a tablet app. Another student who struggles with writing has been using speech-to-text software to craft thoughtful journal entries, which has boosted both his confidence and his academic performance. These tools not only make learning more accessible, but they also make it more joyful.\r\n\r\nYour contribution has had a lasting impact on our students' growth, independence, and self-esteem.
