As the year progressed, I knew that I needed something new to encourage my students to do their best in school and stay engaged in learning, especially as our long winter progressed. My kindergartners loved being able to pick out a special stuffed animal to have watching them work. Quiet critters were something that they looked forward to each day because of how soft and cute they are. They were so excited to read these books, \"real\" books, and bring them home to read to their families. My students are able to read these books because they are filled with words they can sound out and read. They have built up their confidence and fluency reading these books at home and school. \r\n\r\nThe decodable readers are used in our tiered intervention time. Books were used according to the phonics skills they were working on.
