Because of you, my students didn't just learn about the Middle Ages—they truly connected with it in a memorable and meaningful way.\r\n\r\nWhen the picture frames, paints, and supplies arrived, students were immediately excited. They eagerly began talking about the designs and colors they wanted to use and couldn't wait to get started creating.\r\n\r\nDuring this unit, students learned about daily life in the Middle Ages, class systems, and how changes in government and society during that time still impact our lives today. To celebrate their learning, we hosted a medieval-themed day where students enjoyed medieval music, an on-theme feast, and kid-friendly jousting. They also explored stained-glass techniques from the medieval era to modern times and wrapped up the day by creating their own faux stained-glass windows.\r\n\r\nStudents learned how stained glass played an important role in medieval cathedrals as both art and storytelling. Using the donated materials, they designed and built pieces inspired by what they learned. One of the most special moments came when sunlight streamed through their finished work—students were amazed to see how light transformed their designs, just as it would have centuries ago.\r\n\r\nSince completing the project, students frequently bring up how much they enjoyed learning about the Middle Ages. Several have excitedly shared that when they are out with their families, they now notice stained glass in churches, buildings, and public spaces—and immediately think of this project. Those moments show just how deeply the learning has stayed with them.\r\n\r\nThe engagement and curiosity sparked by this experience are carrying forward into our current lessons on inventors throughout history. Students are learning how people over time have created inventions that improve the quality of our everyday lives.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving our students an experience that extended beyond our classroom walls. Your generosity helped create lasting connections, curiosity, and pride in learning.","fullyFundedDate":1760642725513,"projectUrl":"project/illuminating-history-creating-medieval-/9778634/","projectTitle":"Illuminating History: Creating Medieval-Inspired Faux Stained Glass","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ellerbusch","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10294879_orig.png?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1759542883827","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10294879"},{"teacherId":9805808,"projectId":8884138,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donation!
