In 2021, as we navigated the ongoing challenges of COVID, everything about teaching and learning felt different. Classrooms were no longer just physical spaces — they became hybrid environments where some students were seated in front of us while others joined from their homes. It was a time filled with constant adjustments, technology challenges, and deep concern for our students' safety and well-being.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support through DonorsChoose, we were able to purchase Jabra speakers for our classrooms. While they may seem like a simple piece of equipment, they had an extraordinary impact. These speakers allowed students learning from home to clearly hear instruction, participate in discussions, and feel connected to their classmates. Instead of feeling isolated or left behind, they were included in real time. They could ask questions, collaborate with peers, and remain engaged in their learning community.\r\n\r\nAt a time when so many of our families were navigating health concerns, job uncertainty, and emotional stress, your donation helped us reduce one major barrier: access to instruction. Students who needed to stay home to remain safe were still able to fully participate in class. This significantly reduced missed assignments, confusion about directions, and the feeling of disconnection that many remote learners experienced. The speakers truly helped bridge the gap between home and school.\r\n\r\nBeyond academics, your generosity supported something even more important — a sense of belonging. Hearing their teacher's voice clearly. Being able to listen to classmates' ideas. Laughing together during a discussion. These small but powerful moments reminded our students that they were still part of something bigger than themselves, even during isolation. In a season where connection mattered more than ever, your donation helped preserve our classroom communities.\r\n\r\nAs educators, we were doing everything we could to adapt and respond to unprecedented circumstances. Knowing that community members believed in our students and were willing to invest in their success gave us renewed energy and hope. Your support was a reminder that we were not navigating this alone.\r\n\r\nEven now, the impact of your generosity continues. The speakers remain a valuable tool in our classrooms, supporting flexible learning, student presentations, and clear communication. What began as a response to crisis has become a lasting resource that strengthens instruction every day.\r\n\r\nFrom the bottom of our hearts, thank you for stepping up during such an uncertain time. Your kindness helped keep students safe, engaged, and connected to their learning. We are deeply grateful for your support and for the difference you made in the lives of our students.","fullyFundedDate":1602744768269,"projectUrl":"project/creating-connected-classrooms/5224075/","projectTitle":"Creating Connected Classrooms!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Peterson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3908928_orig.jpg?crop=1271,1271,x44,y57&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1602012699931","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3908928"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_104835","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":170,"numTeachers":10,"percentFrplEligible":68,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":41,"percentWhite":21,"percentIndigenous":2,"percentLatinx":18,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":"17.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":71.1,"schoolId":104835,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about West Education Center on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"West Education Center","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/minnesota/-county-run-/west-education-center/104835"}
