This project has helped us to start the first part of the year off in the right direction. The string lights have helped to make our classroom feel more welcoming and get many complements from students just passing by. Originally, I was going to use the Better than Paper bulletin board paper for our classroom bulletin board but ended up putting it on the windows to help block out light (our curtains are a little wonky). We have had a number of students enjoying the stickers for their notebooks and even suggesting packs for future purchase. Many of them were quick to point out their favorites as we unpacked everything.\r\n\r\nThese snacks have already made a huge difference in our classroom. For some students, having something to eat during the day helps them stay focused and energized, especially when they didn't have time for breakfast or when lunch feels far away. I've noticed that offering a snack also creates a more positive and welcoming classroom environment where students are more relaxed, ready to learn, and appreciative of the support.","fullyFundedDate":1742945210583,"projectUrl":"project/snacked-and-ready-to-learn/8981610/","projectTitle":"Snacked and Ready to Learn","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Parker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5449371_orig.jpg?crop=158,158,x0,y10&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1762278765050","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/misseparker"},{"teacherId":9827931,"projectId":8923196,"letterContent":"The lighting in the school can be a trigger for some of my special education students. They get very overstimulated and it bothers them enough to give them headaches. I asked for a donation for light filters that cover up the harsh lighting and this has made a big difference. I have seem much calmer behaviors and have less complaints about headaches. \r\n\r\nWhen I put the filters up the students came in my classroom wondering why the room had a yellow glow to it. Not only is the lighting better for them but they also have something to focus on if needed. The students enjoy looking up at the \"trees\" like they are in the forest. I love that it adds an element of nature into the class as well. The lamp that was purchased and sent to me has also been very beneficial. My afternoon students enjoy having the lights off and using the natural lights from the windows but sometimes they do need a little more light. In those cases they will sit near my desk and we turn the lamps towards where they are sitting. I enjoy them being closer and it has given opportunities to build a stronger relationship.","fullyFundedDate":1736035332970,"projectUrl":"project/calm-classroom/8923196/","projectTitle":"Calm Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kuehnau","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9827931"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_71271","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":282,"numTeachers":7,"percentFrplEligible":55,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":92,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"40.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":39.9,"schoolId":71271,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Stephenson Junior Senior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Stephenson Junior Senior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/michigan/stephenson-area-public-school-district/stephenson-junior-senior-high-school/71271"}
