Instead of the usual lined notebook pages, they now had brightly colored paper and vibrant pens that instantly invited creativity. Students immediately started experimenting with how different colors could represent themes, points of view, or grammar rules—turning what was once routine note-taking into an interactive and meaningful experience.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments came when a student flipped through her journal and proudly said, \"Ooh—I'm making pretty notes!\" That small spark of excitement is exactly what these materials were meant to inspire. For many of my students—especially those who don't always feel confident in English—having journals that feel personal and engaging makes all the difference. They are now building \"color walls\" to visually organize ideas, and I can already see them making stronger connections to the material.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, these journals will continue to serve as a foundation for our learning. Whether we're analyzing a novel, tracking rhetorical devices, or practicing grammar, students now have a system that encourages organization, memory, and creativity. The supplies you provided aren't just notebooks and paper—they are tools that help my students see themselves as capable learners with ideas worth recording. Thank you for making that possible.","fullyFundedDate":1746786125478,"projectUrl":"project/blank-page-to-bright-ideas-interactive/9285393/","projectTitle":"Blank Page to Bright Ideas: Interactive Journals That Stick","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Dora","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9537793_orig.jpg?crop=770,770,x154,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1715699276344","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9537793"},{"teacherId":9537793,"projectId":9088676,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous donations, my classroom library has become more than just a shelf of books—it's a foundation for future growth, discovery, and meaningful learning. Your support gave my students access to high-interest, diverse literature that they wouldn't have had otherwise, and the impact is already taking shape.\r\n\r\nThis year, we weren't able to implement individual literature studies due to limited book options—one of the exact challenges this project set out to solve. Now that we have a much more robust library, I'm excited to put these books directly into students' hands in the coming school year through personalized reading projects and small-group studies. These new titles will finally allow students to explore stories that match their identities, interests, and reading levels.\r\n\r\nThe photos I shared on the DonorsChoose page show real students holding books they've read—and truly enjoyed. Several gravitated toward Born a Crime by Trevor Noah and appreciated his humor and honesty. Three students have already made use of the Merriam-Webster's Everyday Language Reference Set to support their writing and vocabulary development. I've also had multiple students request books from the John Green Collection for next year's independent reading—evidence of their growing interest in reading by choice, not just by assignment.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom has always mattered, but your donation is helping shift it from a requirement into a joyful experience. These books will help students strengthen their comprehension, deepen empathy, and connect more personally with what they read—and for that, I'm incredibly grateful.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this possible.","fullyFundedDate":1742928494258,"projectUrl":"project/opening-doors-through-books/9088676/","projectTitle":"Opening Doors Through Books","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Dora","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9537793_orig.jpg?crop=770,770,x154,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1715699276344","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9537793"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_68846","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":406,"numTeachers":20,"percentFrplEligible":45,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":90,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"20.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":84.6,"schoolId":68846,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Saranac Junior Senior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Saranac Junior Senior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/michigan/saranac-community-school-district/saranac-high-school/68846"}
