However, when you are dealing with 14-18-year-old kids, getting them to drink anything more than energy drinks or slushy drinks is not an easy task.\r\n\r\nWe are not only already in the alternative setting, which, as we know, everyone learns a little differently, but sometimes my students think that water is for the weak.\r\n\r\nI have tried to set a great example by drinking more water (I love my coffee). Let me tell you that giving them their own reusable glasses, along with a great variety of flavors, has changed their minds on water.\r\n\r\nI do not even have 1.00 worth of returnables in my room this school year, and last year we had over 25.00 by Thanksgiving. \r\n\r\nYour generosity has allowed the students not only more variety, but has also allowed me to focus on other needs in my classroom.\r\n\r\nTHANK YOU AGAIN. These tools are more than just devices—they are gateways to discovery, innovation, and future opportunities in STEM fields. Students will be earning credit in their math and science studies for working on this project.\r\n\r\nFor many of our learners, this will be their very first experience coding, building, and seeing their ideas come to life through technology. I can NOT stress how important it is for the students in the program to drink water. Not only for the help in learning, but also to keep them healthy and hydrated. These materials level the playing field for everyone, so they do not have to try and keep up with the \"neighbors\" with the fancy water bottles.\r\n\r\nSo I thank you, they thank you, and we are beyond grateful that you chose to use your generosity to help us.","fullyFundedDate":1755000246316,"projectUrl":"project/hydration-helpers/9574349/","projectTitle":"Hydration Helpers!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Wozniak","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3189980_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1761659034503","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3189980"},{"teacherId":3189980,"projectId":8999915,"letterContent":"When the delivery came from our Donor's Choose project, I didn't tell them exactly what was in them, just that we had some very generous individuals who wanted to help them be comfortable while learning.\r\n\r\nAs we unpacked the boxes, the students began to realize what we had, and even though they are teenagers, the excitement of the possibilities within the room was catchy. They playfully argued over who got to open which bags, and then we watched them expand and by the time we walked into the room on Friday morning, they were ready for the students to use.\r\n\r\nThe way the students found places to sit and be comfortable while completing their work warmed my heart. They are finding joy, encouragement, and comfort while learning. However, I found that the most gratifying aspect of this Donor's Choose is that my students, who need an alternative approach to education, feel valued and respected.","fullyFundedDate":1734632334939,"projectUrl":"project/cushion-the-learning/8999915/","projectTitle":"Cushion the Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Wozniak","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3189980_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1761659034503","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3189980"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_73862","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":19,"numTeachers":1,"percentFrplEligible":90,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":95,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":1,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"10 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"19.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":72.2,"schoolId":73862,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Millington Accel Learning Center on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Millington Accel Learning Center","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/michigan/millington-community-school-district/millington-accel-learning-ctr/73862"}
