They utilize the gifted technology like the headphones, computer mice, and boogie board daily to access Math services virtually in our resource space. They are taking the fidgets, calming/sensory items, and weighted animals to classes to remain calm and focus. It has limited students leaving school early due to anxiety and behaviors, and improved overall school moral. The added materials of protractors, clipboards, rulers, mechanical pencils, electric pencil sharpener, and command strips have been so impactful to the resource space and flow of math session time. Ford, our students have shown immense gratitude for the donations that provide them with tools to regulate their emotions in the learning environment. Students frequently visit my office to borrow fidgets for self-regulation. Some even advocate for themselves by asking to take fidgets home, recognizing that these tools can help them stay calm and avoid behaviors that might lead to trouble.\r\n\r\nOne of the tools I am most excited to introduce is the \"Mind Brain Parenting\" cards. These cards offer prompts for coping skills, addressing social dilemmas, and fostering essential conversations. They are designed to help students build a deeper understanding of emotions and develop effective communication skills.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their excitement was THROUGH THE ROOF! They couldn't believe the variety and quantity of fidgets we received, especially since they were new and unused. The magnetic stones, in particular, have been a favorite among the students. They enjoy the sensory sensation of the magnets connecting and the satisfying sound they make.\r\n\r\nCurrently, I am working with my students on understanding healthy coping skills and recognizing what healthy friendships look like. I hope the \"Mind Brain Parenting\" cards will encourage students to learn from one another through a peer-to-peer model. Additionally, I plan to use the fidgets as a motivational tool to promote better attendance and engagement in school.","fullyFundedDate":1731026840716,"projectUrl":"project/teaching-skills-to-regulate-and-persever/8910429/","projectTitle":"Teaching Skills to Regulate and Persevere Through Mental Health","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Butler","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9820293"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_73648","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":145,"numTeachers":14,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":43,"percentWhite":42,"percentIndigenous":3,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"5 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"10.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":84.0,"schoolId":73648,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Clara B Ford Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Clara B Ford Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/michigan/michigan-department-of-education/clara-b-ford-academy/73648"}
