The students have been using the sensory fidget tubs when they come down for a break, for lunch or they feel overwhelmed. Our students were in a group with another one of our social workers and they utilized the Social Skills game. They did amazing! They answered all the questions correctly and were able to assist and support each other. \r\n\r\nThe pencil sharpener has been a big help for me, when I have a big group in my office. Being able to be prepared and not having to run to get a pencil sharpener has been helpful. The beaded pads have been helpful with students coming down in a conflict resolution. We had so much fun opening and setting up our science materials. Each day I heard \"Is it today?\" \"Is this the day?\" until we were able to use our equipment. \r\n\r\nStudents began by practicing the skill of how to read a scale by measuring some left over holiday candy and then actually eating it. We compared readings on a triple beam balance scale to the readings on a digital scale. Students were really excited about this part! They completed their lab work with the understanding of exactly how much a gram is! \r\n\r\nThe students in my classroom are diverse and many are learning English as a second language. This hands on approach serves to bridge the language barrier gap making learning accessible for all.
