Before receiving these funds, I faced challenges in providing a diverse range of books for my students. Many were eager for more graphic novels and newer young adult fiction, but my budget and resources were limited. The funds allowed me to purchase a variety of engaging fiction titles, which has improved our Sustained Silent Reading (SSR) time and supported my students' growing love for reading.\r\n\r\nWith the addition of these books, students have been able to spend more time reading and less time leaving the room to find books that interest them. This shift has greatly improved both classroom management and time management, as students now have a wider selection of books available to them, all within reach. The excitement and engagement in our SSR time has noticeably increased, as students are more eager to dive into their reading without disruption.\r\n\r\nOne of the most heartwarming outcomes has been the response of one student who had already read the full-length version of a novel in our classroom. After seeing the graphic novel adaptation of the same story on our shelf, she was thrilled to read it again in this new format. This connection between the original text and its graphic novel version sparked enthusiasm and showed me just how much the right book at the right time can inspire students.\r\n\r\nI am deeply grateful for the donors who made this project possible. Without their support, I would not have had the funds to expand my classroom library in such a meaningful way. Our school is located in a low-income area, and parent participation in fundraising efforts can be inconsistent, making it difficult to secure resources on our own. The generosity of these donors has provided a lasting impact on my students' education, and for that, I am truly thankful.","fullyFundedDate":1725707501059,"projectUrl":"project/pages-of-plenty-promoting-diversity-in/8417643/","projectTitle":"Pages of Plenty: Promoting Diversity in Our Classroom Library","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rodriguez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4295408_orig.jpg?crop=2320,2320,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1665154256990","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/pagesofplenty"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_71171","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":413,"numTeachers":18,"percentFrplEligible":78,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":86,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":8,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"22.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":71.1,"schoolId":71171,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Mason County Central High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Mason County Central High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/michigan/mason-county-central-school-district/mason-co-central-high-school/71171"}
