Your generosity has transformed our classrooms into dynamic, problem-solving labs where every student is an active participant in their learning journey.\r\n\r\nInstead of reading a chapter on the periodic table, our students had to use their knowledge to literally \"break out\" of an escape scenario by analyzing atomic structure, calculating atomic masses, and synthesizing information from multiple sources. The \"lessons\" they learned were deeply ingrained because they were used instantly, not just memorized.\r\n\r\nOur science classroom has been completely revitalized. It no longer looks like a space where knowledge is passively received, but rather a workshop where it is actively constructed. This is shown in a couple of ways:\r\n\r\nNoise Level: It's productive, focused buzz—students debating, brainstorming, and celebrating small victories.\r\n\r\nMovement: Students are up, moving between stations, physically manipulating materials, and inspecting clues hidden around the room.\r\n\r\nThe \"Reading\" Process: In our Breakout sessions, \"reading\" involves investigation. Students \"read\" the physical locks, \"read\" the results of a simple experiment, \"read\" the patterns in a diagram, and \"read\" their teammates' ideas to find the solution. Every clue is a piece of text that must be deciphered, resulting in a deeper, more meaningful engagement with the content. \r\n\r\nYour support has given us a dynamic tool that reinforces science concepts while intentionally building 21st-century skills like teamwork, perseverance, and communication. Thank you for helping us turn our science standards into exciting, real-world challenges that motivate every student.","fullyFundedDate":1757522634334,"projectUrl":"project/breakoutedu-gamify-the-science-classroo/9579596/","projectTitle":"BreakoutEDU: Gamify the Science Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Baldwin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10171245_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y386&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755007681156","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10171245"},{"teacherId":9769869,"projectId":8808103,"letterContent":"I have already noticed a significant impact from our Mental Health Resource Library. First, I was able to get a series of motivation, positive coloring books geared towards teens. They are located in the lobby area of the Counseling Office and several students have used these materials while waiting to be seen by a counselor or needing a break from life for a short period of time during the school day. I have personally chosen pages for students to color and work on with inspirational messages that I thought related well to each individual student. \r\n\r\nWe have a bit to go to see the impact of the other books and materials that were donated through Donor's Choose, but I am so excited to use these with students in the future. I have plans to use individual books with students in a small group setting 2nd semester and I hope to be able to pass on books to students, teachers and parents in the coming year. \r\n\r\nThe greatest part is that we now have SOMETHING available for students, staff and parents. We did not have this before this school year and our need for mental health resources are very high. I am so very grateful for this donation.
