The iPad and stylus, now synced with our SMART board, have opened up a whole new way for students to engage—especially those who normally shy away from participating in front of the class. Before this project, some students would freeze up when asked to come to the board, afraid of making a mistake in front of their peers. Now, with the ability to write from their seat and still have their thoughts shared on the SMART board, they're participating more confidently than ever.\r\n\r\nWhat's most exciting to my students is the sense of freedom and creativity the iPad gives them. Whether they're solving geometry problems, annotating shapes, or explaining their thinking step-by-step, they love being able to contribute without leaving their seat. One student in particular—who had previously refused to come to the front of the class—now volunteers almost every day to work through problems using the iPad. This shift in confidence has spilled over into other parts of his learning and behavior.\r\n\r\nThis technology has helped make learning more inclusive, interactive, and engaging for all of my students. Thank you for giving them a tool that not only enhances instruction but also empowers voices that might otherwise go unheard.","fullyFundedDate":1746672035140,"projectUrl":"project/supporting-mental-health-in-my-special-e/9090813/","projectTitle":"Supporting Mental Health in My Special Education Math Class","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Drysdale","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9817905_orig.png?crop=816,816,x153,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1730552907751","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9817905"},{"teacherId":9825948,"projectId":9294690,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous contribution of whiteboard materials, markers, and graphing supplies to our classroom. The whiteboards and markers have brought a new level of energy and interactivity to our lessons by allowing students to get up, collaborate, and visually work through problems together. It's amazing to see how much more confident and involved they are when they have the tools to express their thinking in such a hands-on way.\r\n\r\nThe graphing supplies have been equally impactful. They've helped turn abstract concepts into something tangible. Being able to physically plot and analyze data has made a noticeable difference in students' understanding and enthusiasm. My students were immediately excited about the presence of new - not broken - not dried out - whiteboard markers and erasers, and enough that they each could have their own without worrying about sharing. They have also enjoyed, but been extremely respectful of, the new snack drawers I was able to add to my classroom. They've truly appreciated this, especially on hard days. \r\n\r\nI have also been able to use my donated resources to encourage kindness, hard work, team work, and emotional well being. Students have begun to converse with each other using conversation cubes. They have reminders all around the room to \"be kind always\". They also have a dedicated \"coloring corner\" for when they just need a break. These things all go so much beyond just \"teaching math\", and they make a huge difference. \r\n\r\nI hope to continue to use these resources for years to come, to create stronger mathematicians, but also just good human beings.","fullyFundedDate":1734640920522,"projectUrl":"project/mrs-dodds-classroom-environment/8920709/","projectTitle":"Mrs. Dodd's Classroom Environment","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Dodd","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9825975_orig.jpg?crop=1280,1280,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1731037334659","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9825975"},{"teacherId":979008,"projectId":8920188,"letterContent":"On behalf of our high school students, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your generous contribution toward our podcasting equipment. These generous contributions have enabled us to provide essential resources and support that directly address the mental and emotional well-being of our students. When the new lights were hung and the beach scene light covers were added, the students were in awe. They couldn't stop talking about how comforting the room was. We even had teachers stopping by and commenting how nice the room looked.\r\n\r\nThe impact of the oil diffuser in the classroom on students' mental health has been remarkable. In a special education classroom, where students may face additional challenges such as anxiety, sensory overload, or stress, the presence of a diffuser can be particularly beneficial. We have one student that comes to school early and loves to pick out the scent each morning and set it up for the day.\r\n\r\nThe donation of snacks to our classroom has been incredibly helpful to our students. For many students, having access to a healthy snack during the school day ensures they remain focused, energized, and able to fully participate in their lessons. It helps prevent hunger from becoming a barrier to learning, allowing them to stay engaged and maintain concentration without distraction.\r\n\r\nA heartfelt thank you to all who have generously donated to our classroom! The exciting part is that if they develop a preference for one medium over the other, they can choose to use that specific medium for their final project. This approach allows students to explore new materials, refine their techniques, and make meaningful connections with their work through personal choice.\r\n\r\nThe students were thrilled when they got the new materials—it felt like Christmas morning! In previous attempts to work with ink, makeshift containers created additional challenges with an already tricky medium. Now, with proper supplies, the experience is much smoother. The scratchboard was also a huge hit, as many students remembered seeing it as kids but never had the chance to create something meaningful with it before.\r\n\r\nThe next steps involve using scratchboard and ink to support both artistic growth and mental well-being. These materials help students develop resilience, patience, and confidence by encouraging them to embrace imperfections and trust the creative process. The physical act of scratching is therapeutic, while working with ink teaches focus and adaptability. This project is designed to help students let go of perfectionism and take responsible risks in their artwork.\r\n\r\nBeyond technique, the lesson supports students in navigating personal challenges. Many students are dealing with stress and pressure as they figure out who they are and what they want to become. Despite these struggles, they remain kind, generous, and full of personality. Through art, they are learning to trust their instincts, embrace growth, and develop a mindset that will benefit them far beyond the classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1733268047381,"projectUrl":"project/let-it-flow-embracing-imperfection-thro/8921660/","projectTitle":"Let It Flow.
