My students thought it was so cool when they saw the bean bag chairs and I gave them the lights to put on their books. Every day I have 2-3 students asking to go to the reading corner! When they get their work done for the day, they know they can go and read. \r\n\r\nWe have made a class rule that no technology can be in the reading corner - only books. Then, each Wednesday, we have Independent Reading Day and they take the book they have picked out and take turns in the Reading Corner. It's made such a great activity for our classroom to have the \"Reading Corner\" to go to. It has emphasized reading in my classroom in a positive way. Your support has helped bring my vision of a true \"Thinking Classroom\" to life—one that fosters collaboration, problem-solving, and student-centered learning.\r\n\r\nBecause of your contributions, our space has already transformed in meaningful ways:\r\n\r\nPuck lights have given students a nonverbal way to share their level of understanding. This has allowed me to quickly see who needs support and who is ready to move ahead, making our time together more efficient and reducing frustration. Most importantly, it empowers students to take greater ownership of their learning.\r\n\r\nA digital clock has encouraged independence by helping students manage their time during group activities and problem-solving sessions. They are becoming more accountable for their own pacing, which has strengthened both confidence and teamwork.\r\n\r\nMesh magnetic baskets have streamlined group work by keeping markers organized and accessible. Something as simple as not wasting time searching for supplies has made collaboration flow more smoothly and kept students focused on the task at hand.\r\n\r\nThese resources have not only made our classroom more effective but have also created a learning environment where students feel empowered, capable, and excited to engage.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in my students and for helping us build a classroom where thinking, creativity, and collaboration thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1755955240104,"projectUrl":"project/continuing-to-build-a-thinking-classroo/9615417/","projectTitle":"Continuing to Build a \"Thinking Classroom\" in Math!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Dinninger","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9599660_orig.jpg?crop=1130,1130,x1584,y648&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755824687270","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9599660"},{"teacherId":7062619,"projectId":9088931,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting my project, \"Headphones to Enhance Learning.\" My students were amazed at how quickly parents, friends, family, and community members made donations to this project. Their excitement was even greater when the boxes arrived and they were able to try out the new headphones and use the audio hubs. \r\n\r\nSince the headphones arrived, I have been able to provide individual and small group video lessons for students to learn from and work at without direct instruction from me. This benefits each student because they now get individualized intervention or enrichment lessons to meet their needs delivered either independently via video or face-to-face with me as their teacher. Because students can now go at their own pace while I work with small groups, many more learning opportunities are being embraced. The students love using the headphones to tune into the lesson and replay as needed. I also am thrilled to share that students using the audio hub are not only building their math skills, but they are building communication skills as they discuss the lessons, ask each other questions, and correct any misconceptions as they work through the lesson at hand. \r\n\r\nYour support truly enriches our learning environment and means the world to us!","fullyFundedDate":1738372488384,"projectUrl":"project/headphones-to-enrich-our-learning/9088931/","projectTitle":"Headphones to Enrich our Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Amy F. This innovative approach fosters an environment where students are encouraged to think critically and collaborate effectively.\r\n\r\nAt the beginning of each hour, students are presented with a \"THINKING TASK.\" This task is a non-curricular activity designed to stimulate their minds and encourage creative problem-solving. Students work in groups of three, utilizing vertical whiteboards and standing desks to explore different ideas and solutions. This setup not only promotes teamwork but also allows for a dynamic and engaging learning atmosphere.\r\n\r\nThe structure of the week begins with whole group learning sessions, providing a foundation for the concepts we will explore. As the week progresses, students transition into smaller groups of three, where they work together on classwork. This collaborative format encourages students to move around the room, interact with other groups, and share insights. The energy in the classroom is palpable, as students bounce ideas off one another and refine their understanding of the material.\r\n\r\nThe introduction of standing desks has significantly enhanced the classroom experience. These desks allow my students the freedom to choose whether to stand or sit while they work. This flexibility has been a game changer, enabling students to gather together in focused areas, fostering collaboration and communication. The excitement surrounding this change is evident—students, colleagues, and even administration have expressed their enthusiasm.\r\n\r\nI am incredibly grateful for the support that has made these changes possible. Providing my students the freedom to work together and move about the room has transformed the learning experience. Observing and listening to the discussions and thought processes taking place has been nothing short of amazing. Students are generating ideas and solutions that extend beyond conventional thinking. This year, their growth in math has been remarkable, and it is thrilling to witness their progress.\r\n\r\nCreating a \"Thinking Classroom\" has not only enriched the learning environment but has also empowered my students to become active participants in their education. The collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking skills they are developing will serve them well in their academic journeys and beyond.","fullyFundedDate":1731538144497,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-thinking-classroom/8507768/","projectTitle":"Creating a \"Thinking Classroom!\"","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Dinninger","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9599660_orig.jpg?crop=1130,1130,x1584,y648&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755824687270","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9599660"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_72622","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":344,"numTeachers":34,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":24,"percentWhite":37,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":29,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"10.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":87.5,"schoolId":72622,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Carrollton Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Carrollton Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/michigan/carrollton-public-school-district/carrollton-middle-school/72622"}
