We have decided to plant not only tomatoes, but sugar snap peas and herbs as well. The students know that once the plants begin to grow, they will be able to sample the foods as well.\r\n\r\nOne of the best parts of having the hydroponics set up in our classroom is the responsibility the students will be learning. They are responsible for managing the water levels, raising the light as needed, and providing nutrients on a schedule.\r\n\r\nYour generosity is helping our students to discover the joy of garden and the enjoyment of consuming freshly grown produce. A large percent of our students come to school exposed to multiple stressors and challenges before they get on their busses in the morning. But our school only has about 100 students at a time. It is very hard to have those events for our students. With this area in the classroom, the students have found solace and comfort in knowing that their environment is calm. \r\n\r\nThe classroom was able to have a mini makeover in several areas as well. Adding the curtains, lighting, bulletin board decorations help to tie the soothing mood throughout.
