These new books have helped us build important second-grade reading skills like fluency, comprehension, making predictions, identifying story elements, and using text evidence to support our thinking. Just as importantly, they have helped students discover that reading can be fun. Having a wide variety of high-interest books means every child has the opportunity to find stories that match their interests and reading level, which builds confidence and encourages a lifelong love of reading.\r\n\r\nReading is one of our favorite parts of the day. During independent reading, partner reading, and small-group instruction, students eagerly grab books from our classroom library and can't wait to share what they're reading. It's been amazing to watch students who were once hesitant readers become excited to recommend books to their classmates or ask if they can keep reading just a little longer. The new books have sparked meaningful conversations, thoughtful questions, and smiles all around the room.\r\n\r\nFrom the bottom of my heart, thank you for believing in my students and investing in their future.
