With these devices, students have been able to engage in hands-on coding experiences using LEGO Robotics, bringing their ideas to life in a way that is both educational and exciting. Many of our students had never coded before outside 30 minutes school classes, but with the iPads, they quickly learned how to program their LEGO creations to move, respond to commands, and complete challenges. This technology has not only introduced them to the basics of coding but has also strengthened their problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaboration skills.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting aspects of this new technology is watching the students' enthusiasm as they design and build their own robotic models. They especially loved creating submarines and Arctic rides, coding them to navigate and complete tasks. Seeing their projects come to life after testing and refining their code has been incredibly rewarding. The ability to experiment, troubleshoot, and improve their designs has fostered a growth mindset, encouraging students to embrace challenges and learn from mistakes.\r\n\r\nA few students, in particular, have shown a deep passion for coding through this experience. One student, who initially struggled with traditional learning methods, has flourished with hands-on coding, eagerly taking the lead in programming their team's robot. Another student, who was previously hesitant to participate in STEM activities, has developed a newfound confidence, proudly showcasing their coded Arctic ride to the class. These iPads have not only provided access to technology but have opened doors to new interests and opportunities, inspiring students to think like engineers and problem solvers.","fullyFundedDate":1735657661235,"projectUrl":"project/submerge-into-uxbridges-first-lego-leag/8875908/","projectTitle":"Submerge Into Uxbridge's FIRST LEGO League","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gallerani","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8402774"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_63944","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":526,"numTeachers":22,"percentFrplEligible":30,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":87,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":7,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 3","studentTeacherRatio":"23.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":94.2,"schoolId":63944,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Taft Early Learning Center on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Taft Early Learning Center","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/massachusetts/uxbridge-public-schools/earl-d-taft-elementary-school/63944"}
