Watching seeds sprout and plants grow gives students a tangible reminder that growth takes time, care, and consistency—lessons that extend far beyond the classroom. For students who may experience stress or challenges throughout the school day, caring for plants can provide a peaceful activity and a chance to slow down, focus, and feel a sense of accomplishment.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these donations are helping my students see that they can nurture something and watch it flourish. Reading about characters who experience hardship, discrimination, loss, mental health struggles, or feelings of isolation can help students develop empathy, recognize that they are not alone, and better understand different perspectives. For some students, finding a character who shares a similar experience can provide comfort and a sense of belonging.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these donations are helping create a classroom environment where students know that their voices, identities, feelings, and experiences matter.
