Students were able to build as they engaged in key concepts in science and engineering. \r\n\r\nThe kits are flexible so that I am able to include more insects, birds, and pollinators that I already have available in my classroom and include them in, for example, the garden building kit for added interest and depth of learning. \r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1767119149042,"projectUrl":"project/stem-building-kits-build-bright-minds/9962477/","projectTitle":"STEM Building Kits Build Bright Minds!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Vincent","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5877579_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1706830107162","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5877579"},{"teacherId":10242168,"projectId":9989409,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating to this project! The new National Geographic books have been flying off of the shelves! The kids have been so excited to bring them home to share with their families and they've definitely been sharing their favorite parts of the books with myself and the library volunteers. The younger kids love checking out books that the \"big kids\" check out, and the older students love having new books about topics they love, like dinosaurs and sports. One girl in particular loves biographies, and she squealed with delight when she was reading the National Geographic First Book of Who book. \r\n\r\nMy library classes have been examining a variety of library-based themes: Parts of a Book, Fact vs. Fiction and Nonfiction Text Features. These books allow for students to authentically learn those important library skills while also engaging with the text in a meaningful way. For students who are emerging readers, they have been able to focus on all of the information they can learn simply by looking at the pictures. This has empowered them to share their knowledge, and it also shows them that there are multiple ways to engage in reading and that you can learn even when you can't always read every word on the page. \r\n\r\nThese updated books have brightened up our library in a multitude of ways, and I am forever grateful that you chose to donate to this project. Our students are using these resources to develop their literacy skills as well as work on calming down when they are feeling dysregulated. Our students are primarily using these books when they are in their respective \"Calm Down Corners,\" and when they saw the books, they were so excited! One student in particular was so happy that the books were indestructible; he confessed that he feels badly when he wrecks things when he is upset, which makes him more upset. The students have been treating the books very respectfully and as you can see in the pictures, they've been sharing them with each other.\r\n\r\nIn terms of Social Emotional Learning Skills, these books have been a tremendous help, especially in terms of Self-Management and Responsible Decision Making. For Self-Management, having these books be tools in our \"Calm Down Corners\" helps our students manage their big feelings and control their impulses. In terms of Responsible Decision-Making, our students are choosing to read a book when they are feeling dysregulated, which is a very positive choice to make! \r\n\r\nThank you so much for making this possible!","fullyFundedDate":1758563917357,"projectUrl":"project/books-that-are-indestructible/9683898/","projectTitle":"Books That Are Indestructible!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. McCauley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10242168_orig.png?crop=398,398,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1767832996008","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10242168"},{"teacherId":5877579,"projectId":9704820,"letterContent":"I want to thank you for your generous donations to my project.
