We are also able to use some buttons for students during their work time so they are able to communicate wants and needs in the classroom. We were able to create some books for the kids that align with our curriculum. It has helped with students that needed enlarged print as well as ensuring that all students have a book in their hand. We could not have done this without the binder combs.\r\n\r\nSince they have been bound, we are able to use them for multiple years. In the past we would spend time reprinting books. It has also helped with limiting the damage to books since we are able to laminate the pages first then bind them. These sensory bins have been crucial to help our students learn. They use them during sensory breaks, but also sometimes during indoor recess. During the winter months, it is too old to go outside here. We have to setup places in our classroom for students to access appropriate play activities. Kinetic sand is a great activity during this time. They immediately had requested to have free time with the materials to learn and explore.\r\n\r\nWe included a sand bin for just sensory play into their day. Every day, for at least 15 minutes, our students take a sensory break where they can choose different activities. Many of our students need this break to regulate themselves. It's a nice time in the day to relax, breathe, and explore. Our students were so excited for the flexible seating options, and they choose to change where and how they sit based on the day. We like to change it up daily too, this way students have different options, and we get to see what works best for students. It has also given us better ways to run groups, and has made it easier for student learning.
