The graphic novels purchased for my classroom have encouraged and excited children to read. They simply cannot get enough of the new books. \r\n Each Monday students chose new books to read throughout the week. Children scramble for the graphic novel bins. They are discussing which books they like the best and why. I love to hang out on the side and just listen to their discussions. The Babysitter Club books are a huge hit with my girls. The science series is a big hit for everyone and of course Dog Man and Investigators are favorites too. \r\n It is so nice to have a classroom library that contains lots of current titles that children are excited to read. A lot of the graphic novels were traditional chapter books. I have the original series and it is wonderful to see how these new books spark interest to read the original series. My students would tell you that these books have had an impact on them as readers. They are reading more and being exposed to books that they would not typically pick.
