Our new rug has already transformed the way we learn and build community each day. When the students walked in and saw the rug for the first time, they gasped, cheered, and immediately sat down to \"test it out.\" One student said, \"It feels like our room is so cozy!\" Another added, \"Now we have our own reading corner!\"\r\nThe rug has quickly become the heart of our classroom. We gather there for our morning meeting, whole-group mini lessons, and read-alouds. During independent reading, students naturally gravitate to the rug, stretching out with a book and settling into a calm, focused space. I've noticed students who usually struggle to sit still staying engaged for longer periods simply because they feel comfortable. During partner discussions, pairs meet on the rug. There really isn't a time in our day when someone is not using the rug.\r\nOne of my favorite moments happened during a writing lesson. As we gathered on the rug, one of my students said, \"It feels like we're a real team when we sit here together.\" That sense of belonging is exactly what I hoped this rug would bring to our classroom. Thank you for making it possible.\r\nThank you for giving my students a warm, welcoming space to learn, talk, wonder, and grow. Your generosity didn't just give us a rug; it gave us a gathering place that supports connection, focus, and joy every single day. We are deeply grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1755710130947,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-desire/9426534/","projectTitle":"Classroom Desire","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Davis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6607892"},{"teacherId":6607890,"projectId":9217028,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our Makey Makey Backpack bundles! As a digital learning specialist working with students in grades 3 through 6, I strive to bring engaging, hands-on experiences into our classroom that spark curiosity and creativity—and your donation made that possible. When the students first saw the Makey Makey kits, their eyes lit up with excitement and wonder. They couldn't believe they would be able to turn bananas into piano keys, or use everyday materials to interact with their computers in brand-new ways. It was a powerful moment that set the tone for inspired, imaginative learning.\r\nOne of our first projects using the Makey Makey kits was an interactive poetry activity. Students wrote original poems, then designed circuits using Makey Makey and conductive materials to create \"talking\" poetry displays. When someone touches parts of their design, a recorded line from their poem plays through the computer. This project blended literacy, technology, and art in a meaningful and memorable way. Next, we plan to explore coding and game design with Scratch, using Makey Makey to create custom controllers. Your donation has truly opened the door to inventive learning opportunities, and I can't thank you enough for making this possible for our students!","fullyFundedDate":1743462071710,"projectUrl":"project/spark-creativity-with-makey-makey-inter/9217028/","projectTitle":"Spark Creativity with Makey Makey: Interactive Backpacks for Young Innovators!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kosakowski","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6607890_orig.png?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1741277011557","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6607890"},{"teacherId":6607890,"projectId":9146050,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our project! As a digital learning specialist working with students in grades 3–6, I've had the joy of introducing the new Micro:bits and Hummingbird Robot Kit to classrooms across the school. The excitement was immediate—students' eyes lit up the moment they saw the colorful sensors, lights, and motors, and they couldn't wait to dive in. In one class, students have begun using the kits to design interactive poetry displays, coding lights and movements to enhance the meaning of their poems. Watching them bring their words to life with technology was truly inspiring.\r\n\r\nThese new tools have sparked creativity and critical thinking across the board. Students aren't just learning to code—they're using technology as a form of expression and problem-solving. In the fall, we plan to expand these types of projects to all grade levels, integrating Micro:bits and Hummingbird Robot Kits into lessons across subjects.
