I have really enjoyed seeing my students learn about their big feelings and how to express them appropriately in school. We learned about our class being a family and caring for each other. We read our new story 'The Magical Yet' and discussed how it is okay to not know something YET. We made our own yet characters that hang in our classroom to help us try new and tricky things. Our breathing bear has been a great tool for those times that the class is just a bit too excited or emotions are running high, we can slow ourselves down with deep breaths. The new materials and organization have not only reduced conflicts over shared resources but have also made students excited to participate in indoor activities. When the students first saw the new toys and games, their faces lit up with excitement! Many of them immediately jumped into playing together, discovering new games and working in teams.\r\n\r\nOne memorable moment was during a rainy day when the students were able to use the new board games and sensory toys to engage in cooperative play. The students created a \"game station\" where they took turns, shared pieces, and helped each other learn new games. It was amazing to see how the structure and variety of the new materials made them focus more on having fun and less on any conflicts.\r\n\r\nThis positive shift has not only improved playtime but also strengthened relationships among classmates, reduced tension during recess, and created a more inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels welcome and excited to play indoors. They are pending to go on a trip across the road carpet, one child said \"it is time to go to the park\" as he moves the magnet cars across the road. After having the Legos delivered I found a Lego table at a flea market. These students said they were building a city in the shared photos. The original thought was this project would support my special education students to better access the curriculum. What I did not foresee is that this project has supported my entire kindergarten class! \r\n With this project I was able to get a classroom printer and color toner. I was able to print and make interactive learning books where the students count the images and use the number cards to attach the answer with Velcro. I also made reading books that focused on answering story questions. The students favorite story was The Itsy Bitsy Spider. As I read the story, each page asked the students a question like \"Where did the spider go?\". These questions during the story helped my special education students work on their learning goals, but also supported my other students in understanding the difference between sentences and questions. \r\n I was also able to print out color vocabulary cards to go along with my units, colored picture schedules to provide visual understanding of what comes next and matching games for partner work.\r\n Thank you again for this wonderful donation to support all of my learners!","fullyFundedDate":1740529964867,"projectUrl":"project/color-our-world-of-communication/8987335/","projectTitle":"Color Our World of Communication","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Matan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7658972_orig.jpg?crop=1150,1150,x0,y674&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1659572184940","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-matan"},{"teacherId":8345484,"projectId":8632983,"letterContent":"Thank you for donating to my new carpet.
