The \"Feeding Hearts and Minds\" project provided a wonderful variety of snacks that have made a real difference in our daily learning environment.\r\n\r\nWe use the snacks throughout the day to help students stay focused, especially during long lessons or testing periods. It's been incredible to see how something as simple as a healthy snack can help students re-energize, refocus, and feel cared for. \r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the bins filled with snacks, their faces absolutely lit up! They couldn't believe all the options and were so thankful to have something to look forward to during the day. It's helped create a sense of community and comfort in our classroom. Students even take turns helping organize and distribute the snacks.\r\n\r\nThank you for feeding not only their stomachs but also their hearts and minds. The new resources are being used every single day as a safe, calming space where students can step away, take a breath, and return to learning with a clearer mind. For example, they've spent time on their Chromebooks working through programs like iReady, using the calm space to focus and engage more effectively.\r\n\r\nOne special moment I'll never forget was the first day we introduced the space. Students' faces lit up with surprise and relief. They immediately gravitated toward the soft seating, sensory tools, snacks, and calming visuals. One student whispered, \"This feels like home,\" and another proudly told me, \"I think this will help me when I get really frustrated.\" These heartfelt reactions reminded me how important it is for children to feel seen, supported, and cared for.\r\n\r\nAs we continue, we plan to encourage students to use the space not just for interventions, but also for mindful breaks, journaling, or quiet reflection, building skills for focus, self-regulation, and emotional well-being.\r\n\r\nYour support has made this possible, giving students a cozy space to learn, grow, and recharge. My students have progressively learned to transfer their thoughts from drawing to words. These primary pages are just what the students need in first grade. The magnet hooks are so wonderful to hold up posters on the board for learning time examples or holding classroom necessities that need a secure place. These are wonderful! The headphones supplies are a necessity. So many times, the students are without a headphone set yet it's needed to keep the noise low during laptop learning. These supplies will definitely be put to good use. We have a need already. It's been an ongoing struggle. However, now we have a good supply on hand for our students. Thank you so much!\r\n\r\n I realize this year is close to the end. However, first graders will head back to school in the fall.
