After finishing class assignments, students eagerly choose a flexible seat to settle in and read. During indoor recess, they gravitate to the area to play games or simply converse. When a student feels overwhelmed or overstimulated, they utilize the comfortable seating as a dedicated space to relax and recenter. Furthermore, I strategically assign small groups to this area, especially when using manipulatives to capitalize on the collaborative and comfortable environment. All students clearly look forward to using this versatile space.\"\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the flexible seating and new chapter books, the classroom was instantly filled with excitement. They had many wonderful questions, ranging from when they would be able to use the materials to how I managed to get all the new things! It has created an incredible buzz, making them eager to utilize the new space for both reading and class activities.\r\nOur first major initiative in this area is the Math and Science Career Project. This project challenges students to research a specific STEM career (like an Environmental Engineer, Data Scientist, or Forensic Chemist). The new, comfortable seating area is the perfect spot for: Group Discussion and Data Collection & Analysis. The students have embraced this collaborative space so fully that my immediate plan is to expand the area! This will ensure I can accommodate more students and, maximizing the use of the new seating and making group discussion and collaborative data analysis a core part of our daily routine.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your incredible support in making this special space a reality.","fullyFundedDate":1758202809733,"projectUrl":"project/math-reading-corner/9433309/","projectTitle":"Math Reading Corner","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Carey-Crowder","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4517179_orig.png?crop=405,405,x17,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1599924919063","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrscareycrowder"},{"teacherId":3618846,"projectId":8487823,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donation to my project \"Future National Board Certified Teacher\". I just completed and submitted the requirements for components 2 and 4. Component 2 focused on Differentiation in Instruction. For this component, I was able to highlight the ways I differentiate lessons based on the students' English Language Development (ELD) levels. For example, newcomers (students who are new to the country) or level 1 students would need images, sentence starters, word banks, and so on, while level 4 students may only require sentence frames. Component 4 allowed me to reflect on my effectiveness as a practitioner. It brought about some strengths and areas of improvement in my teaching. My National Board process this year was an amazing opportunity that I wouldn't have been able to participate in without your help. I won't receive my results until the first weekend in December, and I'm hoping for the best. I will also be taking component 3 next year and hopefully finalizing my NBCT process.
