The room was filled with laughter, excitement, and friendly competition as students and staff joined in for an evening of connection and fun. The UNO table quickly became the center of energy — every card drawn brought cheers, suspense, and plenty of good-natured rivalry. Nearby, others played Jenga and Chess, showing off their focus, strategy, and teamwork. The music added to the lively atmosphere, and a few of our custodians even dropped by to witness the fun we were having. It was heartwarming to see students from different grade levels bonding over simple, timeless games.\r\n\r\nThe students were genuinely excited to use the materials provided and take the lead in organizing the event. They worked together to set up the space, create a welcoming environment, and make sure everyone felt included. For many, it was their first time helping to plan a schoolwide event, and the pride on their faces when they saw how much everyone enjoyed it was unforgettable. The event reminded us all that community building doesn't always require something elaborate — sometimes, it's about bringing people together to laugh, play, and make memories.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to build on this success by hosting more monthly social events that continue to engage both students and staff. The Key Club members are already brainstorming ideas for a trivia night and a charity game tournament where proceeds will support local service projects. Thanks to the resources we received, our students are learning valuable leadership, planning, and collaboration skills while making a positive impact in our school community.","fullyFundedDate":1755653308744,"projectUrl":"project/giving-something-to-those-who-serve-the/9536342/","projectTitle":"Giving Something to Those Who Serve the Community","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Hawkins","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4278658_orig.jpg?crop=654,654,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1692816085627","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4278658"},{"teacherId":9704024,"projectId":9313831,"letterContent":"I am grateful to you for your support in donating the much needed materials in my classroom. Too often, the text we have to teach in our curriculums are serious, sometimes violent, and reflect the depressing reality we live in. We don't often get to teach humorous or silly texts, and by this donation of \"ye old rom-com\" texts, my students have been exposed to a new genre they don't often get to see in the classroom. \r\n\r\nFor these novels, I let the students choose their text and groups. Instead of teaching the whole class, the students ran their own book clubs. I provided them all with a final date that the novel needs to be read by, but I left them in charge of deciding how to divide up their reading, how to set their weekly mini-reading goals, and how they'd hold each other accountable for reading. \r\n\r\nWhile there will be some whole class lessons to introduce the week's text focus, students created their own discussion questions and led weekly text discussions within their reading groups. It was entertaining to hear their genuine reactions and connections to their modern day experiences. My heart swelled with pride hearing the eagerness with which they discussed their thoughts on the text. \r\n\r\nI appreciate the opportunity to provide a new reading experience to my AP Lit seniors in order to hopefully, plant the seeds of reading joy.","fullyFundedDate":1723808467633,"projectUrl":"project/laughter-literature/8661488/","projectTitle":"Laughter & Literature","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hands","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8884788"},{"teacherId":9707080,"projectId":8704268,"letterContent":"Thank you from the deepest of my heart.
