The population of students in my class is so used to having to go without, so it is a blessing to be able to provide them with basic necessities. \r\n\r\nThe mobile white board has been such a hit in our class. Since my classroom lacks a bulletin board, using the white board has made posting new vocabulary and updates from or about the school 10 times easier. Being able to move it from one point of the classroom to another has also been a huge perk.\r\n\r\nOur county very recently had a hand, foot, and mouth outbreak, and the large bottle of Purell has gone such a long way. I often encourage students to clean their hands before and after we deal with any props, and I wouldn't be so confident to do so if I had the tiny bottle of hand sanitizer the school tends to provide me with.\r\n\r\nWhile I haven't yet received all of my props, I am still very grateful for the ones we have gotten a chance to use. It has made creating and performing scenes that much more realistic to my students, and some of them are even considering taking the arts more seriously as they get older.\r\n\r\nI give my sincerest thanks to you for your thoughtfulness and your dedication to seeing our students thrive, especially in my class. \r\n\r\nThank you, thank you, thank you!","fullyFundedDate":1754508906785,"projectUrl":"project/new-school-year-new-intentions/9486857/","projectTitle":"New School Year, New Intentions","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Matthews","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9369026_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y386&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1730748264320","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9369026"},{"teacherId":10029608,"projectId":9348042,"letterContent":"My students and I are so grateful for your generous donations! We've been putting the new resources to great use. The organizers have helped us keep all our markers sorted by table, making it easier for students to access what they need. The acrylic paint markers were used for our recent graffiti art project, where students spun a wheel to determine the graffiti style they would recreate on paper. For the second part of the project, they spun the wheel again to decide what image to draw- options included clowns, subway trains, city skyline, sneakers, and etc. It was a engaging, hands-on way for students to explore creativity, color theory, and composition. \r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw and began using the new materials, their excitement was contagious. They loved that the paint markers allowed them to paint with precision and control, while still feeling like they were creating something bold and expressive. It was a joy to see them so focused and proud of their work, experimenting with new techniques that wouldn't have been possible without your support.\r\n\r\nOur next classroom project will combine pop art and pointillism, using the dotted paint markers you provided. Students will learn how to create vibrant images through color layering and dot placement, blending modern and traditional art styles. The students were so proud and I know we could not have reached that goal without the tools necessary to practice and record our music. The most popular item we have received has been the headphones that allow our english learner students the opportunity to practice the pronunciations of the songs we sing in english and other languages.\r\n I have also attached the pictures of our students from the Winter Concert and our Spring Adjudications for Prince George's County Maryland. My students are able to reflect on their experiences in class in their notebooks and closely listen to scenes and scripts assigned through their chromebooks with their headphones. Being able to write down what you learned about or experienced, and being able to listen closely for details is an essential part of learning and practicing drama.\r\n\r\nMy students' eyes lit up when they saw the mini notebooks they could use to reflect on their class experiences, and they smiled from ear to ear when they realized they could keep the notebooks forever, instead of having to turn them in at the end of the semester.\r\n\r\nCurrently, my students are learning the importance of ensemble work in theatre, and they participate in various team work activities where they can exercise their collaboration skills. After the exercises, they answer questions about what was easy or difficult about the exercises, and what was successful and what failed--encouraging them to think about the effectiveness of their own collaboration skills.\r\n\r\nIt has been wonderful watching the students come to their own realizations after having somewhere to jot down their thoughts and refer back to them when necessary. Because of your kindness, students were given the tools and guidance to explore storytelling through film, allowing them to express their thoughts, emotions, and experiences in powerful and creative ways. Filmmaking provides a unique platform for young people to develop their voices, share their perspectives, and gain confidence in their ability to communicate ideas. This program has not only nurtured their artistic talents but also equipped them with valuable technical and collaborative skills that will benefit them far beyond the classroom.\r\n\r\nOne of the most inspiring stories to come from this initiative is that of a first-generation American student who had never considered film as a means of self-expression. Through this program, they discovered the power of storytelling, using film to share their family's journey and the challenges of growing up in two cultures. The experience gave them a newfound sense of pride in their identity and a way to bridge the gap between their heritage and their future. Your support made this possible, giving them the confidence to tell their story in a way they never imagined.\r\n\r\nThe impact of this project reaches far beyond the students—it has given them a lasting appreciation for the arts, a sense of belonging, and the ability to see their world through a different lens.
