One specific moment that stands out was during a whole-group writing lesson where students practiced responding to a prompt using the mini magnetic drawing boards. Every student was able to actively participate, quickly record their thinking, and revise their responses in real time. We have also been using the classroom caddies to organize materials for small group rotations, which has made transitions smoother and maximized instructional time.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate and contagious. They were eager to use the magnetic boards and mechanical pencils, and even students who are typically reluctant writers were motivated to participate. The novelty of the tools, combined with their ease of use, helped create a positive and inviting learning environment where students felt more confident and willing to try.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will continue building on these routines as part of our current writing instruction. We will incorporate the materials into small group instruction to target specific skills, ensuring that all students—especially multilingual learners and those with IEPs—receive the support they need. These resources will continue to play an important role in helping students develop confidence, stamina, and independence in their writing.","fullyFundedDate":1767310234996,"projectUrl":"project/every-student-writes/9976782/","projectTitle":"Every Student Writes","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Thompson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9584000_orig.png?crop=309,309,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1721666844725","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9584000"},{"teacherId":9584000,"projectId":9963244,"letterContent":"Our students have been using the donated materials to bring our classroom production of The Lion King to life through hands-on costume creation and imaginative play. Using simple supplies like paint, construction paper, and recycled materials, students designed and built costumes for animals such as elephants, giraffes, hyenas, and warthogs. One especially memorable moment was when Anthony created a zebra using painted paper strips. He took incredible pride in his work—especially the eyes he designed—and eagerly showed every visitor who came into our classroom. Moments like this highlight how these resources are not just materials, but tools that spark creativity, confidence, and ownership in student learning.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate and contagious. They were amazed at the possibilities and couldn't wait to start creating. Their ideas \"went wild\" as they began envisioning how to transform everyday items into costumes and props. For many students, especially those who may struggle in more traditional academic settings, this was a powerful opportunity to shine. The materials unlocked their creativity and gave them a new way to express themselves.\r\n\r\nAs we continue working on our production, students will move from creating costumes to rehearsing and refining their performances. They will practice speaking lines, collaborating with peers, and building confidence on stage. We are also excited to continue integrating literacy skills through script reading and storytelling. Looking ahead, we hope to build on this success by continuing our theatre tradition—possibly even exploring a future production of Aladdin. With the foundation these donated resources have provided, our students are eager to keep creating, performing, and growing.","fullyFundedDate":1767115735018,"projectUrl":"project/community-kids-theatre/9963244/","projectTitle":"Community Kids Theatre","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Thompson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9584000_orig.png?crop=309,309,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1721666844725","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9584000"},{"teacherId":3048196,"projectId":9616452,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous contribution to my project \"Empowering Students Through Art: A Sketchbook Journey 25-26.\" My students were excited to have their very own sketchbooks. They immediately personalized them by designing the cover and sketching ideas for their next work of art. Students use them in every class to sketch ideas, practice their drawing skills, and/or for self-reflection. \r\n\r\nIn the coming days, students will begin a unit entitled \"Empowered Self Portraits.\" They will use their sketchbooks to brainstorm their positive attributes and personally meaningful images. Their brainstorming will help them create a self-portrait celebrating their uniqueness. In the Art Room, we build not only skills, but confidence and community. The use of sketchbooks has encouraged students to practice and experiment with their drawing, which is building their confidence.
