The LCD writing tablets, bean bag chair, Jabari Jumps and Jabari Tries books, literacy center with sketch pads, and coloring books have already become valuable additions to our classroom. Each of these items serves a special purpose, and together they are helping me create a learning environment where every child feels comfortable, capable, and excited to participate.\r\n\r\nAs a special education Pre-K teacher, I work with young learners who have a wide range of abilities, developmental needs, and learning styles. Some of my students are just beginning to recognize letters and practice making marks on paper, while others are learning to write their names, identify letter sounds, and express their ideas through pictures and words. Having a variety of engaging, hands-on materials allows me to meet students where they are developmentally and provide meaningful opportunities for growth.\r\n\r\nThe LCD writing tablets have been an especially exciting addition to our classroom! My students absolutely love using them to practice drawing lines, shapes, letters, and numbers. For some children, holding a pencil and making marks on paper can be challenging or even frustrating. These tablets provide a fun, low-pressure way to practice important pre-writing skills without the worry of making mistakes. With the simple push of a button, students can erase their work and try again. This encourages persistence, builds confidence, and makes practicing fine motor skills feel more like play than work. I have also been able to incorporate the tablets into small-group literacy lessons, letter recognition activities, and independent learning opportunities.\r\n\r\nOur new bean bag chair has helped create a comfortable and inviting place for students to enjoy books. For young children, especially those with sensory and attention needs, having a cozy space to sit and relax can make a tremendous difference. The chair offers an alternative to traditional classroom seating and encourages children to spend time looking at books, listening to stories, and exploring reading independently. It has also helped make our classroom library a welcoming area where students can develop positive associations with reading. My goal is for every child to see books as something enjoyable, not simply another classroom assignment.\r\n\r\nThe books Jabari Jumps and Jabari Tries have been wonderful additions to our classroom library. These stories offer so much more than opportunities to practice listening comprehension and vocabulary. They introduce important lessons about courage, perseverance, trying new things, and believing in yourself. These messages are especially meaningful for my students, many of whom face challenges that require extra patience, practice, and determination. Through Jabari's experiences, we can talk about feeling nervous, making mistakes, asking for help, and continuing to try even when something seems difficult. These stories also provide opportunities for students to answer questions, make predictions, identify emotions, and connect the characters' experiences to their own lives. I love being able to reinforce the message that everyone learns at their own pace and that trying your best is something to celebrate.\r\n\r\nThe literacy center with sketch pads and coloring books has provided even more opportunities for my students to express themselves creatively while developing essential early learning skills. Drawing, coloring, and experimenting with writing tools help strengthen the small muscles in children's hands, improve hand-eye coordination, and prepare them for future writing tasks. These materials also encourage imagination, self-expression, and independence. Some students enjoy drawing pictures to tell stories, while others are practicing coloring within spaces, copying shapes, or making their very first attempts at writing letters. What might look like a simple coloring or drawing activity is actually helping build the foundation for important academic skills.\r\n\r\nOne of the greatest benefits of this project is that the materials allow my students to experience success in different ways. In a special education classroom, there is no single approach that works for every child. Some students learn best through hands-on exploration, others benefit from visual supports and repeated practice, and others need a quiet, comfortable space to engage with books. These donations have helped me provide more choices and create learning opportunities that are both accessible and enjoyable for all my students.\r\n\r\nBeyond the academic benefits, these materials are helping my students develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning. There is something incredibly rewarding about watching a child who previously hesitated to participate become excited to try a new activity.
