The fun continued back inside where students took turns playing in the kitchen with a brand new cash register. \r\n\r\nOf course, we had to buckle-down at some point for some academics, but even that was fun with the large, magnetic 10-frames. Your support is doing more than providing tools — it's opening up worlds of connection, learning, and confidence for children with special needs.\r\n\r\nMany of you are familiar with using technology at home — tablets, apps, smart devices — but in a classroom like ours, these tools serve a far deeper purpose. For our students who are nonverbal or have limited speech, these communication devices are their voices. They're not just engaging with apps — they're learning how to express themselves, participate in lessons, make choices, and connect with their peers. The devices have become a bridge to language, unlocking academic content and social experiences that were previously out of reach.\r\n\r\nWhat's most exciting to our students about the new technology is how personal and empowering it is. For example, our new augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices allow students to customize the words, pictures, and phrases they use, so their communication reflects *them* — their interests, personalities, and feelings. Suddenly, a student who used to get frustrated or shut down is now asking for their favorite book, sharing how they feel, or even telling a joke. It's incredibly empowering.\r\n\r\nYour gift has changed lives — and continues to do so each time a child finds their voice. We are deeply grateful for your generosity, and we look forward to sharing more progress with you as our students grow.","fullyFundedDate":1741179575928,"projectUrl":"project/high-tech-communication-devices/9098585/","projectTitle":"High Tech Communication Devices","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Brooks","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9916277"},{"teacherId":9694875,"projectId":8684833,"letterContent":"I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation. Thanks to your support, my students have been able to engage with new sensory materials that have made a remarkable difference in their learning experience. The sensory tools have created a more inclusive and engaging environment, helping my students regulate their emotions and stay focused during lessons. One memorable moment was when we introduced the sensory bins and fidget tools during a calming break — the excitement and joy on their faces were priceless! It's incredible to see how these resources have enhanced their focus and boosted their confidence.\r\n\r\n We have incorporated these materials into daily learning routines. We have been using sensory tools during group activities to improve social interaction and during independent work to help students stay calm and focused. Creativity is a key word that identifies our students that are attending our classrooms today.\r\nThe materials that you have donated, have helped the students learn in a specific and special way. Their english scores inclusive of writing and reading have increased. The students that were behind in remedial skills, have began to connect the dots and understand how to write a correct sentence and to identify the parts of a correct sentence versus a phrase.
