The magnet blocks and magnet wands have been an absolute favorite for my kindergarteners for practicing phonological awareness and counting the sounds in words. We sit together at the teaching table and I need to give the students a moment to play before we work because they are so excited. The LCD boards are used daily by my kindergarten, first and second graders when we practice writing sounds of words. The mindfulness stickers and book are so useful when a student is having a hard moment and needs strategies to calm down.\r\n\r\nWhen I first pulled out the materials you donated, my students were thrilled. Mixing toys with learning is so engaging for young students. My students have a particularly hard time learning how to read, so making it fun is so important. These materials will be exciting and fun for years to come.\r\n\r\nI will continue to use the materials that you sent daily with my young learners. It is so nice to have such a variety and to be able to mix up what we do each day. Thank you so much.","fullyFundedDate":1764688356068,"projectUrl":"project/reading-and-writing-tools-for-young-read/9879344/","projectTitle":"Reading and Writing Tools for Young Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Metallo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10291314"},{"teacherId":9879502,"projectId":9666222,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating to our Star Student project! Using the donated supplies, we were able to to provide each family with a take home literacy \"tool kit.\" This kit contained literacy games and manipulatives like dice to play the games at home. This kit supplied students with multiple tools to help students visually track when reading like finger flashlights and tracking strips. The tool kit provided parents with a variety of games and strategies to strengthen literacy in the house, in the car and also provided families with conversation tools to get kids talking with their families. This \"tool kit\" was given out, explained with teacher demonstrations at a reading night for families. Dinner was provided and we also partnered with our local public library to get families signed up for library cards. Families also had the opportunity to review some approved literacy apps to use at home. Students also starred in a video that was played for parents while eating dinner. This event was fun for not just families but for our staff as well. It allowed us to spend time with our students and their families outside of the classroom and strengthened the home school relationship. It truly was a memorable night. Students were so proud to receive the tool kit and excited to try out all of the games and show their families what they have been doing in the classroom. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for you donation as we would not have been able to provide families with these materials without your generosity. The excitement from the night has kept going as students come in and share who they played the games with and how they won or how much fun they are having at home learning. Your support is helping us reach our goal of having every kindergarten student reading before they leave kindergarten. Thank you! Thank you! They are also thrilled beyond belief to be able to take a class pet home and write about it with their families. Today we broke into groups and used the games in a rotation. The first student was chosen to take the class pet home and she will share her journal entry on Monday when we return.\r\n\r\nEvery Friday a new student will get to take the class pet home and write about the adventures over the weekend with their family. It is a great way for parents to be involved in their child's education and a really fun way to practice reading and writing skills.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for contributing to this project and making it happen for my students.","fullyFundedDate":1762291787918,"projectUrl":"project/take-home-class-pet-and-reading-games/9768520/","projectTitle":"Take Home Class Pet and Reading Games","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Metallo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10291314"},{"teacherId":9879502,"projectId":9239505,"letterContent":"These books helped teach students about growth mindset and perseverance through different perspectives using books with diverse characters. Students so enjoyed hearing stories about and families that looked like them. Students enjoyed the books so much that I put them out as a reading center so they could read them as much as they wanted to. I even had parents come in and read some to the class and many parents asked for the list of books to purchase for home. These books sparked so many great discussions and motivated one particular student to push through and know she could do hard things. Her family was going through hard times at home and she very much connected to one of the characters in one book.","fullyFundedDate":1744242459885,"projectUrl":"project/growing-writers/9239505/","projectTitle":"Growing Writers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Girvin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9879502"},{"teacherId":9879502,"projectId":9014216,"letterContent":"Your donation made a huge impact! Students took home reading kits to motivate at home reading. Here are some parent comments from the night:\r\n\"These events help keep my child motivated and excited about learning to read.\"\r\n\"It was a truly valuable time for us.\"\r\n\"This was a great way to help parents receive reading resources that can help our child at home.\"\r\n\"Thank you for providing us with insightful information.
