The students were so excited to have some new technology in our classroom. It helped to get them engaged and motivated with the material that we are learning. We have used the new computer several times for various purposes. I have used it within my reading groups for sight word practice. I am able to flash sight words up onto the screen and click through while tracking my students' speed with the words. This is especially helpful for my struggling readers who need repeated practice with these words. We have also used the computer for various activities in math class. I've used it to run Blooket games. These are games where the students form teams and compete with each other to practice facts. I am able to use the computer to project the leaderboard so the students can see where they rank among their classmates. They absolutely love this! You can hear clapping and cheers coming from our classroom anytime that we play! We've also used the computer for solving word problems in math. Students are able to see the problem on the screen during their small group and then use white boards to solve them. This allows me to immediately see who understands that concepts and who needs extra assistance. \r\n\r\nThe Cricut has allowed for some awesome new bulletin boards in our room! I was able to revamp boards that we have had up in our room since the beginning of the year. I can make letters on the Cricut and then hang them up on the board. The students especially loved seeing these new fonts on our Spotlight Student and Getting to Know Our Class boards! I also used the Cricut to create Valentine's for each of my students.\r\n\r\nFinally, I've been able to use the laminator to create reusable materials for my students. This includes reusable checklists and other visuals for some of my students with special needs. I appreciate being able to keep these creations for longer periods of time due to their durability with the lamination.
