Each of the books support important early literacy and life skills in a way that feels meaningful and engaging to young children.\r\n\r\nStories like Knuffle Bunny and Milo Imagines the World help children explore emotions, perspective-taking, and empathy. They encourage students to talk about feelings, misunderstandings, and how our assumptions about others can change. Books such as Plants Can't Sit Still and Pop! introduce early science concepts like observation, change, cause and effect, and curiosity about the natural world. Titles like Round Is a Tortilla and Eyes That Kiss in the Corners support language development, descriptive vocabulary, identity, and pride in one's culture and physical traits.\r\n\r\nAcross all of these books, students are learning to listen, understand stories, build vocabulary, make predictions, and connect texts to their own lives. Reading in our classroom is active, social, and joyful. During class read alouds, children are encouraged to talk about what they notice, ask questions, and share their thinking. They often revisit favorite books during independent and small group time, using the illustrations to retell stories in their own words.\r\n\r\nBooks aren't just something we read once and put away, they become part of our daily conversations and play.","fullyFundedDate":1762483129706,"projectUrl":"project/building-readers-one-story-at-a-time/9824857/","projectTitle":"Building Readers, One Story at a Time","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. West","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6135264_orig.jpg?crop=2048,2048,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1760381124640","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/alixwest"},{"teacherId":8577639,"projectId":9769625,"letterContent":"My students have found so much joy in exploring and using these puzzles to strengthen their critical-thinking skills.
