There has been a noticeable difference between this year and last with how students interact with my calming corner. There are items that better fit their needs and allow them to regain control, calm down, and refocus themselves. Last year it felt almost like a time out corner where kids go when they're upset. Now I feel as though I'm creating a safe space to calm down. \r\n\r\nThere was lots of gasp when my students started to see all that was added to the calming corner. They asked if they could keep things and take them with them to their other classes. I'm grateful to be able to offer more headphones to students as well. Being in a music class can get very loud and overwhelming, and while it's something I've grown used to, that is not the case for many. Keeping students comfortable in an environment meant to be fun is imperative.\r\n\r\nAs my classroom continues to grow and evolve, I am hoping to add more musical decor to create a sense of comfort in the room. After a year and a half, things are coming together, but I want the room to be cozy, comfy, and a place students want to be. These calming items are a big step forward in creating a space for all my students to feel welcome and accepted. \r\n\r\nThank you for all your help, my students wouldn't have the same experience without you!","fullyFundedDate":1757611202170,"projectUrl":"project/mental-wellbeing-in-the-music-classroom/9435794/","projectTitle":"Mental Wellbeing in the Music Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mx.
