One particularly special moment was watching a small group of students naturally take turns, explain their thinking to one another, and persist through challenges using the materials without adult prompting.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the resources, their excitement was immediate. They were eager, curious, and full of questions. Many students could not wait to explore and asked when they would get to use them. Their enthusiasm quickly turned into focused engagement as they realized these materials were \"just right\" for their learning and interests.\r\n\r\nBy contributing to our project, you gave our students a little glimpse into what it means when someone believes in them. It feels amazing to know that others want to invest in the cultivation of our curiosity and potential. Now, those barriers are gone! When the students first saw the electric scissors in action, their eyes lit up with excitement. It's our main gathering spot for morning meetings, read-alouds, music and movement, and group discussions. One special moment that stands out was during story time—students sat closely together, fully engaged, pointing to pictures and excitedly making predictions about the story. The new carpet has helped create a calm, inviting space that supports learning and connection.\r\nWhen my students sat on the new carpet, they immediately got comfortable and settled in. While it looks familiar because it was the same color pattern as the older carpet. They commented on the softness and fresh smell. We have several students whose families face homelessness due to job loss, rising costs of materials essential for daily living, landlord power abuses, and lack of funding for safe and fair housing for families most in need. \r\n\r\nMany students in this situation may be too young or not be able to pack special items to take to the next location, be that temporary housing or shelter or another arrangement. The purpose of these care kits were to provide the children with some comfort items so that even if they did not know where they would lay their heads that night, they would each have a new pillow, a stuffed animal, a toothbrush and toothpaste and a nice bag to bring along special items. \r\n\r\nWith generous donations outside of the scope of this project I was able to also obtain gently used pajama sets to add to the care kits. The magna tiles are a class favorite. My students flock to this center and use the tiles to not only build cars, animals, and towers, but also use them to create and form letters and numbers using the picture guides. \r\nThe sidewalk chalk is a huge hit when students are outside playing. I have seen them not only draw, but write to decorate our playground. We are using the mini magnetic drawing boards to show understanding of letters and number formation. Students are able to sit in the group and write on the mini boards to show me how to correctly form letters and numbers.\r\nThe students are highly motivated to earn prizes like the mini stuffed animals that adorn their bookbags.
