Students were also able to create their own notes and graphic organizers for their state writing tasks. \r\nThey did an amazing job! \r\n\r\nThe chart paper allowed me to create relevant anchor charts for students to analyze tier 2 vocabulary, words they might see across over contents. \r\n\r\nAll in all, your donation made a huge impact on my students' academic growth.","fullyFundedDate":1742841340513,"projectUrl":"project/word-geniuses/9087455/","projectTitle":"Word Geniuses","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jones","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9212507_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1704799649539","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9212507"},{"teacherId":9364878,"projectId":9304009,"letterContent":"I'm so excited to share with you the before and after pictures of my school library. It was not the cozy school library that I had pictured in my head. Worse, the books were so disorganized and not well-cared for that I couldn't even find the basic sections for fiction, non-fiction, and everybody (picture books).\r\n\r\nIt has taken me 2 years to organize the books and display them as they should be. We now have a school library that looks like a library but also includes displays to showcase various titles the way a book store does. These displays attract a lot of attention, which leads to books in students hands. The displayed books are the most circulated books in the collection. One of the most impactful tools has been the interactive math games and visual aids we received, which have helped students improve their math and reading skills in a fun and engaging way. For example, we recently worked on a project where students had to use math facts fluency drills to solve problems in a time challenge. The students absolutely loved it! They were able to solve more problems in less time, and the friendly competition really sparked their motivation. The interactive nature of the tools made the lesson more accessible, especially for students who struggle with traditional methods.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, their faces lit up with excitement. It was incredibly rewarding to see the students' enthusiasm, and they are eager to continue using these resources to build their confidence and proficiency in math.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will continue to build on their math skills through structured practice, with an emphasis on reinforcing basic math facts and applying these skills to more complex problems. The next step in our current project is to focus on multi-step word problems, where students will use their math facts fluency to solve real-world scenarios. The new resources you helped provide will be instrumental in guiding these students through these challenges, and we're excited to see how they will continue to grow with these tools at their disposal.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this possible. Your support has truly had a positive impact on our students' learning journey.","fullyFundedDate":1726685582083,"projectUrl":"project/kids-just-want-learn/8470640/","projectTitle":"Kids Just Want Learn!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Harris","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9173475_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1719355276730","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9173475"},{"teacherId":9364878,"projectId":8850578,"letterContent":"With your donation we were able to restock our shelves with students' favorites titles. We had some very happy kids who were previously disappointed by missing books. Some of the most popular titles didn't make it back last year, and kids were left without the sequel or other title that they really wanted to read.\r\n\r\nWith the reshelf, we were able to get these popular titles back into students' hands. What I love best about the library is the freedom of choice that comes with being able to select any book of the shelves. The whole idea of independent reading is that students are choosing the books they want to read. And, if they want to read it, then they will actually read and continue grow as a reader and thinker.","fullyFundedDate":1727976925652,"projectUrl":"project/library-reshelf/8850578/","projectTitle":"Library Reshelf","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Brown","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-brown-school-054"},{"teacherId":9581130,"projectId":8686766,"letterContent":"We've been using the new toiletries in several meaningful ways. For example, we recently implemented a hygiene self-care station in the classroom, where the girls can access deodorant, soap, sanitary products, and other toiletries throughout the day. This initiative has not only helped with the physical well-being of my students but has also opened up discussions on personal care, self-esteem, and health.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, there was a mix of surprise and excitement. Some were shy or embarrassed at first, but many were grateful, especially since some of them had been going without these basic essentials due to financial difficulties. It sparked conversations about how important it is to feel comfortable and confident at school, and many shared stories about how they sometimes felt uncomfortable due to not having these resources at home.\r\n\r\nAs for the next steps, we're now focusing on a health and wellness project where students are creating posters about hygiene and self-care tips, which they'll present to their peers. This project will help reinforce the importance of taking care of oneself and foster a positive dialogue about personal health. The toiletries have become an important part of that conversation, and I'm excited to see how the students will incorporate what they've learned into their lives and share it with others.","fullyFundedDate":1724882319089,"projectUrl":"project/toiletries-for-middle-school/8686766/","projectTitle":"Toiletries for Middle School","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Scott","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9581130_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1724265438094","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9581130"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_64407","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":373,"numTeachers":29,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":74,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":20,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"12.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":68.0,"schoolId":64407,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Barclay Elementary School 54 on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Barclay Elementary School 54","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/maryland/baltimore-city-public-school-district/barclay-elementary-school-54/64407"}
