Each student has a folder that they take home and bring to school each day. The folders that I create include practice sheets they can use at home--including letter formation, numbers, colors, months of the year, days of the week, letter naming fluency practice, and nonsense word fluency practice. Each practice page is inside a sheet protector so they can use dry erase markers at home, and some pages (like the fluency practice sheets) are switched out every month. Students use the crayons from my project for adding detail and color to illustrations about texts we are reading. They also develop their fine motor skills and imagination through free-drawing each day.\r\n\r\nMy students were excited when they saw the new materials! Students enjoy the morning routine of getting their folder out of their backpack and putting it away. They also enjoy using crayons in their illustrations and artwork in the classroom. Having a vacuum right in our classroom allows us to quickly clean up crumbs, paper scraps, and other messes instead of having them remain on the floor for the rest of the day. My students are also learning that taking care of our classroom is everyone's responsibility, and they love seeing our space clean and ready for the next activity.\r\n\r\nThe adhesive magnets are helping us build our classroom vocabulary wall. As we introduce new vocabulary in literacy, math, science, and social studies, we can display the words where students can easily see and reference them. The magnets allow us to add and change words as we move through different units of study. My students are beginning to use the wall as a resource when speaking, writing, and discussing what we are learning.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue expanding our vocabulary wall as students learn new words throughout the year.
