They were pretending to feed them and even use the carriers to take their baby dolls on a \"walk.\" \r\n\r\nMy next steps will be to continue to add to the dramatic play area house theme. Each book offers a new opportunity for students to see themselves reflected in the pages, to discover perspectives different from their own, and to fall in love with reading in new ways.\r\n\r\nAlready, I've seen the excitement build as students eagerly choose their next book or recommend a favorite to a classmate. Because of your support, our students continue to have the opportunities to engage in hands-on, imaginative, and meaningful learning experiences that would not have been possible otherwise.\r\nThis year, our young engineers and scientists took on real-world challenges and created some truly incredible work:\r\n\r\nFifth-graders designed and built original-themed Operation games, each tailored to teach a specific skill to a younger \"client.\"\r\n\r\nAs part of our Animal Bionics unit, fourth graders researched the needs for prosthetic devices in both humans and animals. Using their findings, students applied their knowledge and creativity to design and build custom prosthetic devices tailored to the needs of specific animal \"clients.\"\r\n\r\nSecond graders researched animal overpasses and underpasses, developing prototypes to help local wildlife safely cross roadways, customized for the specific needs of various animals.\r\n\r\nOur budding first grade ornithologists studied local birds and engineered custom perches, taking into account weight, height, and natural forms of exercise.\r\nFirst grade also tackled complex ideas in another unit—researching wind power, blade shapes, and mechanics to create intricate whirligigs with multiple functional parts.\r\n\r\n\r\nNone of these projects would have been possible without your thoughtful donations. The materials you provided allowed students to dream big, take creative risks, and build prototypes that addressed real problems. Because they could use manageable, safe, and versatile supplies, they developed independence in their problem-solving and took immense pride in bringing their visions to life.\r\nThank you for making it possible for our students to fall in love with STEM—not just for its successes, but for the challenges and discoveries along the way.
