The students are so happy to finally have their own set of sports balls to play with outside and everything you donated. Because of your donation, students do not have to go to the library to get chargers which gives them more time in the classroom to get work done. Students also really enjoy having the snacks available for when they are hungry. It is super helpful to be able to give students that little boost of energy mid-day or at the end of the day. \r\n\r\nThe students have also enjoyed having supplies right in the classroom. Many times students have had to go to another classroom to get coloring materials which takes time away from their classroom time. It is super helpful to allow students to take a pencil box full of markers and colored pencils. Finally, having the notebooks for Current Events allows students to keep all of their writing in one place and not lose it in their bags. \r\n\r\nI appreciate everything that you all donated, my students really enjoy the balls most of all and use them often. It is great to give my students the ability to get some energy out and play. High Schoolers need time to have fun too!","fullyFundedDate":1755711420189,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-needs/9551190/","projectTitle":"Classroom Needs!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lanoie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7549097"},{"teacherId":8565744,"projectId":8974070,"letterContent":"At Winthrop High School, we are all so grateful for your generous gifts that have made our library a place of joy, exploration, and connection. Students absolutely love the puzzles and games. I've witnessed students who would never otherwise talk -- from different grade levels and social circles and classes -- sit together and work on a puzzle. Sometimes they chat, sometimes they sit in comfortable silence. And the same goes for the coloring pages. \r\n\r\nMany more students are making creative projects away from their screens, which has been a great thing to see. And this year, this focus on creativity has actually helped contribute to the success of our first very own literary and art magazine with student work. Students designed the layout and another student was the editor-in-chief. Having a library that encourages creative exploration helps create a school culture where something like this can be successful! And we hosted our third annual Arts & Humanities Night to celebrate so many creative student poster projects. \r\n\r\nOne new program in the library this year that I've been developing with the Dean of Students is a Mentor program. We've asked seniors to step up and help make some of our freshmen feel like they belong and have someone they can go to with questions or issues. They had a blast using the Conversation Cubes, playing games like Heads Up!, and using the fidgets.","fullyFundedDate":1733181193950,"projectUrl":"project/supporting-teen-mental-health-a-library/8974070/","projectTitle":"Supporting Teen Mental Health: a Library for Empowerment & Connection","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Marshall","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8565744_orig.png?crop=1152,1152,x0,y84&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1732924951866","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8565744"},{"teacherId":2569130,"projectId":8937750,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting my students with your generous contributions to allow me to purchase a new digital camera. I teach Video Production, Multimedia Design, and will be starting a digital photography course this fall. Our new Canon EOS R100 camera has already proven to be an indispensable piece of equipment for my students. \r\n\r\nVideo Production students have used this camera to shoot b-roll for various projects, including interviews, PSAs, commercials, and more. My Multimedia Design students have used it to take pictures of landscapes, people, pets, sports, and other activities to use in practicing the skills they are learning in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. Students excited about taking Digital Photography next year have already come by to check out the new camera and are excited to start using it. Our school news program, WBUS 75, uses this new camera to capture photos and footage for various segments; and our yearbook team has borrowed it to take pictures as well when they need an extra camera.\r\n\r\nStudents love it's compact size and fantastic photo and video quality. One student in particular dropped by often during the spring to use the camera to take photos of various teams or shoot footage of school events. She also used this camera as part of a project we did for area school superintendents. Any chance she got to use it, she took it. This is exciting considering this student plans to pursue a degree in digital art and design.\r\n\r\nAgain, thank you so very much for supporting my students and giving them access to equipment that will increase their skills and improve the quality of their creative work.","fullyFundedDate":1733286958804,"projectUrl":"project/supply-future-photographers-with-a-new-c/8937750/","projectTitle":"Supply Future Photographers with a New Camera","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Shaw","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2569130_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y409&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1731371009775","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2569130"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_65421","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":232,"numTeachers":23,"percentFrplEligible":32,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":89,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"10.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":68.8,"schoolId":65421,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Winthrop High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Winthrop High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/maine/winthrop-public-school-district/winthrop-high-school/65421"}
