Because of your generosity, our students had something exciting to look forward to each day during state testing. After completing their testing sessions, students who demonstrated effort, perseverance, and a commitment to doing their best earned a Golden Ticket. At the end of the day, those tickets became especially valuable when students got to visit our snack station and choose a favorite treat or drink. The excitement surrounding the Golden Tickets was incredible, and our students quickly embraced the challenge of earning one each day.\r\n\r\nWhile the snacks may seem like a small reward, they helped us accomplish something much bigger. State testing requires our middle school students to remain focused and motivated through multiple subjects, testing sessions, and several long days. Your support gave us an opportunity to intentionally celebrate their effort—not simply a test score. Students knew that we noticed when they took their time, showed their work, used the strategies their teachers had taught them, and continued working even when a question was difficult. That recognition helped create a positive atmosphere around a week that can otherwise feel stressful and exhausting for students.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, your generosity allowed our students to see that people beyond the walls of our school were cheering them on and investing in their success. More than 200 students benefited from this project, and every Golden Ticket represented a moment when we could tell a student, \"We see your effort, and it matters.\" Thank you for giving us the resources to celebrate our students, encourage perseverance, and make a challenging week a little more exciting. We used the supplies for hands-on engineering challenges, including designing hurricane-resistant structures and creating models that could survive extreme conditions in space. Students worked in teams to plan, build, test, and revise their designs, which led to a lot of problem-solving and collaboration.\r\n\r\nOne moment that stood out was watching students test their hurricane structures. When their designs failed, instead of getting frustrated, they went right back to improving them. They were talking through ideas, adjusting their builds, and really thinking like engineers. It was amazing to see their persistence and creativity in action.\r\n\r\nThese materials made it possible for students to move beyond just talking about concepts and actually experience them. They were fully engaged and took ownership of their learning.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, students will continue building on these skills through more design challenges and by incorporating technology like microcontrollers into their projects. The students were so excited to help set up the chiller. This way when we are not at school the water temperature will stay at the best level for our fish to thrive. The students come to class each day to check that the water temperature is at the correct level thanks to our chiller. Students built the solar ovens using the materials purchased with donations and then tested their solar ovens to make smores using graham crackers, chocolate and marshmallows. The students really enjoyed this project and when quizzed on the concept all students had mastered the process of radiant energy transforming into thermal energy.
