The kids were so excited when the boxes came in with our new garden hose and wand, as well as the plant food. The garden hose has been such a huge help, being able to reach the plants both inside and outside of the greenhouse. The wand is super easy for my students to use. Today I collected a few pre-k kiddos to help water the plants. As I was watching, I was happy to see them helping one other unravel the hose to get it ready to use. Both the hose and wand made cleaning up super easy for the kids. It not only served its purpose for watering the plants, but also helped with teamwork and problem solving. \r\n Before our project, students thought that the only way to grow plants was in soil. They now understand that plants can grow in water, but need some kind of food to keep them healthy. They were very interested in what the food looked like. They had many thoughts about why it was green. \r\n My next dream is to have raised beds for our students. I would love to have each grade taking care of a different garden area, that way every year they will have a different garden experience.","fullyFundedDate":1738944167234,"projectUrl":"project/the-sprout-spot/9095510/","projectTitle":"The Sprout Spot","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Tiffany Thibodeaux","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9547656_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1738691046579","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9547656"},{"teacherId":9547656,"projectId":9091465,"letterContent":"I would like to thank you all again for your donations. Rockwool is not a familiar object so, my students had many questions about what it was and how it works. The trays were also essential to housing the rockwool while our seeds did their thing. Everyone is always so excited about getting packages of course. \r\n Our students have been learning so much about what plants need to grow. They have been visiting our greenhouse where there is a plethora of seedlings. Each class has planted some kind of vegetable or herb seed in the rockwool. The process is taking a bit of problem solving and many questions are being generated by the students about the process. \r\n Before this, students thought the only way to grow plants was in soil. They are very proud to see their seeds sprouting and growing. Requests to visit the greenhouse occurs daily and the excitement from the kiddos when we do get to visit is fun to see. \r\n Our students have started conversations with their families and have been sharing real life connections with their home experiences. Parents are dropping by to visit and see for themselves what their children have been doing. It truly warms my heart that they are excited about school and learning. Your donations have sparked excitement within our school.","fullyFundedDate":1738599972198,"projectUrl":"project/from-seed-to-sprout/9091465/","projectTitle":"From Seed to Sprout","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Tiffany Thibodeaux","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9547656_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1738691046579","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9547656"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_17677","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":316,"numTeachers":17,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":60,"percentWhite":28,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 1","studentTeacherRatio":"18.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":63.1,"schoolId":17677,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about St. Martin Early STEAM Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"St. Martin Early STEAM Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/louisiana/st-martin-parish-school-district/early-learning-center/17677"}
