My class was excited everytime I brought a box in from the office to see what we received. We immediately started using the flexible mirrors in our Skills/ELA lessons as a tool to view their mouth formation as they \"echoed\" sounds, and identified the difference between consonants and vowels, it was a major hit, they are just the right size for my student's little hands. We use the clay/playdough and triangle shaped pencils to build fine motor skills, as my students still struggle with pencil holding, the triangle shaped pencils are fantastic, no more pencils rolling off the desk every 5 seconds😊. We also use the clay/playdough to form the focus letter of the day, they are excited to use the bright colored dough, it's color keeps their attention. The item from this project that has been the most impactful to my class, is the fidget sensory tools. I have quite a few students who struggle with impulse control and focus, the handheld fidgets are small enough not to cause a distraction, and fit perfectly in their hands, so thankful for these!! \r\n\r\nThank you for funding this project, it has made all the difference to my students❤️","fullyFundedDate":1758815613776,"projectUrl":"project/no-to-germs-yes-to-building-fine-motor/9467457/","projectTitle":"No to Germs, Yes to Building Fine Motor Skills","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Evans","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7873439_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1737559021980","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7873439"},{"teacherId":7873439,"projectId":9075415,"letterContent":"The items you supplied for us are going to good use. We are using the PowerWash mop daily to keep our white floors clean, because as you can imagine keeping a white floor clean with 23 four and five year olds moving about is a task. My students take part in keeping our class, the clean up person gets to use the PowerWash at dismissal daily, and they absolutely love having a role in keeping our class clean. When my students first saw the Tattle Phone, they were immediately curious, when I explained that they would use to phone to leave me a message of things they my feel shy about saying in front of others, and just stuff they want me to know, they we so excited and eager to get it set up. After we have adjusted to class rules and routines, the phone will be a key part to the Social/Emotional component of each day.\r\n\r\nAs my students settle into the second full week of school, we will transition from getting acquainted with Kindergarten, to taking a full dive into ELA, Math, Science and Social Studies. Over the next month, we will learn about Nursey Rhymes, differences between plants and animals, we will explore our world, learn direction (left, right, horizontal, diagonal, vertical), and how to hold a writing tool.
