Your care packages were more than a collection of items—they were a message of encouragement, reassurance, and belief at a moment when many students are feeling both excited and nervous about what comes next.\r\n\r\nEach item was intentionally chosen and deeply appreciated. The ramen and ramen bowls were a practical reminder that even during tight financial moments, students will have something warm and comforting to rely on. The gum, paired with a note encouraging them to \"stick with it,\" brought smiles and laughter while reinforcing perseverance. Motivational bracelets served as a daily reminder of confidence and resilience, while the Goldfish crackers sparked conversations about new beginnings and the reassurance that even though they may be leaving familiar faces behind, there are many \"new fish to meet.\"\r\n\r\nThe Emergen-C packets were especially meaningful, reminding students to take care of themselves on days when college life feels overwhelming or when they're not feeling their best. Finally, the decorated shipping boxes and mailing labels made the experience feel personal and intentional—each package felt like a gift prepared with love, not just supplies sent in the mail.\r\n\r\nWhen students received these care packages, their reactions were incredibly moving. Many were surprised that people they had never met would take the time to support them in this way. Several students shared that the notes and themed items made them feel seen, encouraged, and less alone as they prepare to take this big step into adulthood.\r\n\r\nAs our seniors move forward, these care packages will travel with them into dorm rooms and first apartments, serving as reminders that there are people rooting for them from afar. They will carry not only the items themselves, but the powerful message behind them—that they are capable, supported, and believed in.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our students' futures and for showing them that kindness extends beyond familiar faces. Your generosity truly made a lasting impact.","fullyFundedDate":1761937482324,"projectUrl":"project/courage-college-care-package-project/9820357/","projectTitle":"Courage College Care Package Project","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Benoit","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8068701_orig.png?crop=642,642,x0,y511&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1654619746708","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8068701"},{"teacherId":8068701,"projectId":9742639,"letterContent":"I am writing with a full heart to thank you for your generous donation of pencil sharpeners, colored Astrobrights paper, and cardstock. Your kindness has made a meaningful and lasting impact on my students and our classroom learning.\r\n\r\nWe are actively using these resources in both academic and creative ways. Most recently, your donation played a special role in a 4-H project where my students created decorative tiles as Christmas gifts for their parents. The Astrobrights paper and cardstock were used to design and cut stencils, allowing students to plan, problem-solve, and express their creativity before transferring their designs onto the tiles. Watching them carefully trace, revise, and proudly complete something meant to be given as a gift was a truly special moment in our classroom.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate. Bright colors and fresh supplies may seem small, but to children, they signal opportunity and importance. Several students commented on how \"professional\" their projects looked, and many took extra care with their work because they were using \"special paper.\" The pencil sharpeners were also a hit—students were eager to keep their tools ready and took pride in being responsible for their materials.\r\n\r\nBeyond that project, these supplies are used daily in my math classroom. I use the colored paper and cardstock to print study guides, practice tests, and visual resources that help students organize their thinking and better understand challenging concepts. The colors help break down information, reduce anxiety around testing, and make learning more accessible and engaging for all students.\r\n\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in students you may never meet. Please know that your donation has made a real difference and is deeply appreciated by both my students and me.","fullyFundedDate":1758997681008,"projectUrl":"project/sharpened-pencils-sharpened-minds/9742639/","projectTitle":"Sharpened Pencils, Sharpened Minds","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Benoit","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8068701_orig.png?crop=642,642,x0,y511&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1654619746708","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8068701"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_14546","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":620,"numTeachers":30,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":31,"percentWhite":62,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":2,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"20.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":64.3,"schoolId":14546,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Leonville Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Leonville Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/louisiana/st-landry-parish-school-district/leonville-elementary-school/14546"}
