The store wasn't just fun; it created a powerful connection to real-world experiences, like shopping with parents. Many families shared how their children began tallying up totals at the store and predicting the final bill before the cashier announced it. That real-world connection made learning meaningful and lasting.\r\n\r\nThanks to this project, students were consistently practicing math in a hands-on way. Whether using mental math or working it out on paper, they became more confident in adding numbers and understanding the value of money. As their teacher, I was proud to see them so engaged and to witness their skills grow. The impact was clear: the following year, more students were on grade level in math and scored higher on beginning-of-year assessments than the previous class.
