They made for an extraordinarily fun time in music this past October! The stories were full of fantastic word rhythms that the children enjoyed echoing! I think adding instruments were the students favorite part though! After initially reading the tale, students were presented with a collection of instruments (wood blocks, castanets, seed shakers, gathering drum, waterphone, and others) and were asked how they could be added to the story! Students were extremely creatively with their interpretations! My favorite was the student who said that seed shakers sounded like \"shivers going down her spine.\" I'm extremely grateful to have these materials in my room. These story books will continue to bring job to my students for years to come! And the fact that the music is professionally arranged and professionally recorded specifically with the elementary music classroom in mind is a big help! I love the 180 sequential lessons include integrated social emotional learning competencies. The students are loving everything about it! We employed classroom instruments: such as rhythm sticks, jingle bells, international instruments, chimes, wood blocks, and many more more to bring them to life! These instruments allowed children to connect folk tales, creating an interactive and imaginative learning experience.\r\n\r\nThrough these music stories, students listened, moved, and played along to rhythm and melody, discovering how music can tell a story and express emotions. \r\n\r\nIn the upcoming semester, we will continue to explore folk tales and creation myths from around the world, thanks to you!
