In previous years, students had no access to the creation of their own music. The extension of that was so basic that it only implied picking their song. I, as the teacher, cut all the used music and chose parts that worked best for me. Moving forward, with this laptop, students are able to do this themselves allowing them to create and showcase their choices. \r\n\r\nJust last month, our dancers performed at our annual homecoming week pep rally! My favorite part of the entire week was watching my girls BRAG about how they edited the music themselves to all of their friends. YOU GUYS DID THIS!!! Middle schoolers love to do their own thing and more importantly love to show off to their friends.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, of course we have plenty of performances here and there that students will still continue to use the laptop for creations. Coming up for Christmas, we actually are working collaboratively with our chorus and piano classes to have performances where one student plays, one student sings, and another student dances. The laptop will serve for recordings, help with cutting music again, and also for videoing for practice. At the end of the school year, our dance class has a huge annual recital that the girls work for all year. Costumes, lights, makeup, and all other things are involved. We definitely embody the \"go big or go home\" method for this. This year, I cannot wait for my students to have the capability to showcase their talents in music as well.\r\n\r\nAgain, thank you for your generous donation and thoughtfulness to our classroom! I can guarantee that your donation is helping shape our arts kiddos into talents young artists!","fullyFundedDate":1752586591577,"projectUrl":"project/dance-wants-to-have-fun/9396089/","projectTitle":"Dance Wants To Have Fun","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Richard","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10049261"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_11465","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":890,"numTeachers":58,"percentFrplEligible":83,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":30,"percentWhite":55,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":6,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"15.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":68.7,"schoolId":11465,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about L.J.
