We know allow students to check out sports equipment during lunchtime. We needed a place to store the balls and the renuits help with the smell of sweaty bodies returning the equipment. \r\n\r\nThe books are to entice the athletes to want to read about favorite sport heroes, favorite teams, and favorite characters in the books. Statistics are shared about the most famous teams and players. \r\n\r\nThe athletes rarely come into the library before we started checking out different sports balls. Some days I give a snack to those that are checking out books, We had our monthly meeting and the students enjoys a treat while learning about the Louisiana Teen Choice Awards and learning about the library. \r\n Students get so excited to get a treat for helping in the library that it encourages others to want to help. Many students sign up to help in the library. The student in the picture is my library worker that really loves to pick out a snack. He even keeps up with my inventory. \r\n This project impacts my students by showing them how the library is run, getting them interested in new genres, and they love competitions. It has given me the ability to get students to start reading, explore new authors, and learn that the library has a lot to offer besides books. Book tasting is an activity the students love because reading one chapter is all that is required for students to participate. After reading one chapter, students can talk about the book, decide if the story is worth continuing and or should make a different selection . Many different genres can be read or just the interesting ones. They talk with each other and recommend books to their classmates. They look for books to add to the library. They also enjoy getting the new selections especially when it is something they requested. \r\n\r\nMy boys in class are the biggest supporter of the new books. The students were so excited to see that we have the different balls for them to check out, like the footballs, soccer balls, volley balls and basketballs. \r\n\r\nThe photos will show who excited the students were when we got the footballs and how they use them during our lunchtime. \r\n\r\nThis helps students who wish to play in these sports to practice and improve their skills in each of these sports. Many students do not get to play in these sports at school because their skill level is lower than the team members. He will be reading these books over and over again. The level of athleticism does not keep them from enjoying the games. \r\n\r\nA fun game of anything is nice to have for our students because many don't get the chance to play.
