I use the whiteboard to model lessons, create anchor charts, and guide whole-class discussions. Because it's mobile, I can move it to wherever students need visuals the most.\r\n\r\n Recently, during a reading lesson, I used the flip-chart paper to build an anchor chart with key vocabulary and examples. As we added to the chart, I noticed students referring back to it throughout the week during independent work. Having the chart clearly displayed made a big difference in their understanding.\r\n\r\n The students were so excited to see the colorful new markers and the large whiteboard. A few of them even cheered when they realized I would be able to roll the board around the room so everyone could see the notes clearly.\r\n\r\n Next, I'll be using the flip-chart paper to create a set of anchor charts for our upcoming unit. These will stay posted around the room so students can refer to them as they work through new concepts. They wanted to get to have the best and newest item in the class. \r\n\r\n Currently we are working on improving our reading and comprehension skills in ELA. Many of my students come from homes where their parents cannot read. This affects their ability to learn to read because they have no one at home to practice with. We are currently working on an extension project where parents and students may be able to learn to read together!
