The materials you provided have transformed our daily learning into meaningful, hands-on experiences that help students understand what it means to be a member of a community.\r\n\r\nThe new books introduce big ideas in kid-friendly ways—civic responsibility, leadership, kindness, and the power of individual choices. We the Kids and Grace for President help students explore democracy, fairness, and how leaders are chosen. Vote for Our Future! and our new suggestion box allow students to practice voting, sharing opinions, and seeing that their voices matter. What If Everybody Did That? sparks thoughtful conversations about personal responsibility and how our actions affect others. Officer Buckle & Gloria opens discussions about safety, community helpers, and respect.\r\n\r\nPaired with the community helper costumes, felt set, and magnetic helpers, students are building vocabulary, oral language, and social–emotional skills through role-play and storytelling. The USA floor puzzle strengthens collaboration, problem-solving, and early geography skills as students work together toward a shared goal.\r\n\r\nReading is interactive, joyful, and social. We gather for read-alouds where students ask questions, make predictions, and connect stories to their own lives. During center time, students retell stories using the felt pieces, act out roles in the dress-up vests, and revisit books independently or with friends. Books are no longer just something we read, they are something we do.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who were once hesitant to speak during group time are now eager to raise their hands, vote using the suggestion box, and take on leadership roles during dramatic play. Others who love hands-on learning gravitate toward the costumes and puzzles, using them to deepen their understanding of the stories we read. It has been especially rewarding to see students proudly say, \"I voted!\" or explain how a community helper helps others.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, our students are not just learning to read, they are learning how to be thoughtful, responsible little citizens. Thank you for investing in their voices, their confidence, and their sense of community. 💙","fullyFundedDate":1761917247788,"projectUrl":"project/little-citizens-building-our-classroom/9838340/","projectTitle":"\"Little Citizens: Building Our Classroom Community!\"","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Green","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8566537_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x0,y80&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1708636344082","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8566537"},{"teacherId":8566537,"projectId":9756750,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom! Thanks to your donations, we received the Easy-Stack Cardboard Blocks and the FUBAODA Building Blocks for Toddlers & Kids and the impact was immediate and joyful.\r\n\r\nThe moment my Pre-K students at Audubon Elementary saw the new building blocks, their eyes lit up with excitement. Some students gasped, others clapped, and one even exclaimed, \"We can build a castle!\" It was pure magic watching them dive right in, stacking, sorting, planning, and collaborating. These are students from a wide range of backgrounds, and seeing them come together over shared creativity was powerful.\r\n\r\nOne memorable moment was during our \"Community Helpers\" unit. Students used the cardboard blocks to construct a pretend fire station, complete with a garage for a fire truck and beds for the firefighters. They used the smaller FUBAODA blocks to create tools and gear, which led to imaginative role play and problem-solving discussions like how to \"put out a fire\" or rescue a kitten from a block \"tree.\" It was a perfect blend of STEM learning, teamwork, and social-emotional development.\r\n\r\nThese materials have opened the door for so much hands-on learning. As we move into our next unit on \"Homes Around the World,\" students will use the blocks to build different types of houses from igloos to huts to skyscrapers, based on what we're learning in class. This not only reinforces their understanding of structures and cultures but also allows them to express their ideas in a concrete, collaborative way.\r\n\r\nYour contribution gave my students more than just toys, it gave them tools to learn, imagine, and grow. The resources you provided, AILIHEN Kids Headphones, Science Viewers, and Scotch Dry Erase Thermal Laminating Pouches, have made a tangible difference in how my students learn and interact with the world around them.\r\n\r\nHow the Technology is Helping Our Students Learn\r\n\r\nIn Pre-K, students are just beginning their educational journey, and technology like kid-friendly headphones and science viewers helps make abstract concepts come to life in ways that feel exciting and accessible. The AILIHEN headphones have allowed students to engage with interactive read-aloud, calming music during quiet time, and phonics games without distractions. This individualized experience keeps each child focused and helps develop early literacy and listening skills.\r\n\r\nThe Science Viewers are like magic windows into the world! Whether looking at insects, leaves, or textures, students are learning to observe closely, ask questions, and think like young scientists. These tools are helping build critical thinking skills at a very young age.\r\n\r\nWhat's Most Exciting to Our Students\r\n\r\nOur students' eyes lit up the moment they first used the Science Viewers. They were thrilled to be able to \"zoom in\" on real-world objects! Many exclaimed things like, \"I can see the leaf's little hairs!\" or \"It looks HUGE!\" That moment of awe is where learning begins.\r\n\r\nThe laminating pouches have also been a quiet but powerful part of the transformation. Now, I can create reusable, durable learning materials like name practice sheets, letter trace practice, counting games, and visual schedules; which allow students to learn hands-on without worrying about making mistakes. They love being able to write, erase, and try again.\r\n\r\nThe Students Who've Especially Benefited\r\n\r\nOne of my students, who is an English language learner, has especially taken to the headphones. During our literacy station, she uses them to follow along with stories in both English and her home language. It has given her the confidence to participate more in group discussions and helps her feel included and supported.\r\n\r\nAnother student who typically struggles with focus has become deeply engaged when using the Science Viewers. Giving him the chance to explore at his own pace has revealed a love of science we might not have discovered otherwise.\r\n\r\nThank You\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, our little explorers are dreaming bigger, learning more, and feeling empowered every day. You didn't just donate supplies, you opened up a world of possibilities for our youngest learners.
