They were so excited to see the fun new STEM kits when they arrived. The kits are being used daily to spark creativity, and to explore the world of STEM. So far, the Machine Makers kit has been the most favorite resource. Students have used this kit to create basic machines, and to explore force and motion using the wrecking ball feature that was included with the kit. Students are also enjoying the Bridge Building to kit to design their own bridges. They love having these resources to be able to create and design their own projects. In the STEM lab, my students dive into coding, robotics, and hands‑on engineering challenges using apps on our iPads. These devices are essential tools that ignite creativity, problem‑solving, and critical thinking — they let students program simple robots, test designs with simulation apps, and collect data during experiments. Because the iPads are consistently available and charged, lessons flow smoothly from mini‑lectures to collaborative build sessions and real‑time troubleshooting.\r\n\r\nThe charging stations have transformed daily learning by keeping devices ready and accessible for every STEM activity. Students use iPads to research ideas, document designs with photos and videos, and run coding challenges that adapt to their level. The most exciting part for students is seeing their projects come to life: they prototype, iterate, and share results with peers. Charging stations also promote teamwork and responsibility — students take pride in returning devices properly charged and prepared for the next class.\r\n\r\nCertain learners have especially flourished in the STEM lab. Students who are quieter in whole‑class discussions come alive when they can design and test solutions on an iPad; English learners use coding and visual tools to participate without language being a barrier; and students who need structure benefit from clear routines around device care that support executive functioning. Thanks to your support, our STEM lab stays hands‑on and productive, giving every student regular access to the technology they need to build skills, confidence, and a love of STEM.","fullyFundedDate":1754344891583,"projectUrl":"project/charge-it-up-empowering-learning-with/9486052/","projectTitle":"“Charge It Up: Empowering Learning with a New iPad Station”","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cash-Loftis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1833272_orig.jpg?crop=1555,1555,x328,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1661438574899","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1833272"},{"teacherId":9928103,"projectId":9123077,"letterContent":"The charging station donated to our class helps us keep our technology organized, charged and ready to use daily. They provide opportunities for students to explore diverse perspectives, improve reading and writing skills, and build empathy, ultimately leading to a more engaging and meaningful learning experience. The literature units enhance our classroom in many ways. First, they help deepen understanding and critical thinking. Literature units help students analyze texts, explore themes, and develop their own interpretations, fostering critical thinking skills. By discussing characters' motivations and actions, students can learn to analyze cause and effect and make inferences, strengthening their ability to think critically about the world around them. The technology that you helped to provide by funding my Donor's Choose project has been a wonderful addition to our classroom! The new laptops have enabled me to progress monitor my students so much faster. It's much easier now for me to pair my laptop and a Chromebook. This has allowed me to save valuable instructional minutes in my day. Some of my lower performing students have really benefited from this technology. Before, they were losing several seconds during progress monitoring because the iPad would switch modes during the middle of their assessment. We were able to purchase 2 Line Leader chargers along with charging cords for our class iPads. This allows us to charge ALL class iPads each day without having to alternate which iPads get charged at night. Due to the number of chargers, we are able to charge 30 iPads at a time if needed. I am also able to help the classroom next door when they don't have enough charging spaces. \r\n\r\nThe use of these charging stations has tremendously helped cut down on loss of instruction time due to having iPads that aren't charged enough daily. It has also helped with handing out and collecting iPads daily. Students are able to independently go collect their iPad in the morning and turn it in at the end of the school day. I have been able to number each slot on the charging stations to correspond with a specific numbered iPad that students are assigned. The use of the charging stations has also helped me to organize my technology so much better.
