Because of your support, over thirty students have benefit from the use of the provided technology both in the general and special education classroom setting. Students are able to access their accommodations through the use of the headphones and the calculators. Teachers are able to ensure student accommodations are accessible to their students, as the student carries their technology with them to class.\r\n\r\nThe students love how they are able to check their answers electronically rather than writing them out. Students who have difficulties with math calculations have learned how to enter information into the calculators to assist them. Students who receive read-aloud instructions are able to discreetly have their instructions (and reading passages) read to them while in class without it being a disturbance to anyone around them. Because of your generosity, we now have a laptop that is able to be used for braille instruction, online progress monitoring, as well as online benchmark assessments. Thanks to the touch screen capability, everyone in the class is able to benefit from this technology regardless of exceptionality.\r\n\r\nWith the added use of this technology in my room, students are happier about utilizing computer time, as they can now actually access all of the programs without the worry of whether or not they can navigate or maneuver the touchpad mouse. My kindergarten and first grade students are able to now utilize programs that aid and assist with their phonemic awareness and development. My fifth grader, who is sight disabled, can utilize the laptop for his online braille learning sessions. Everyone, regardless of grade level or exceptionality has used it. I've also been able to utilize the laptop during IEP meetings to make on-the-spot changes and corrections--this in itself is a blessing!
