What made this experience especially enjoyable was that students had their own copies of the novel, allowing them to personalize their books, annotate freely, and truly immerse themselves in Shusterman's world. The text opened the door to engaging conversations about the impact of AI and technology on the human race, the value of human life, and the fragile nature of mortality.\r\n\r\nReading in my classroom is active and hands-on: students annotate, ask questions in the margins, mark meaningful passages, and participate in frequent class discussions that help them deepen their understanding. Having their own copies empowered them to take ownership of the reading process. Many students who aren't typically enthusiastic readers became fully invested, engaging eagerly in debates, sharing interpretations, and even purchasing the full four-book series to continue reading on their own time. The transformation was incredible to watch—these books didn't just support skill development; they sparked genuine excitement and lifelong interest in reading. I am so excited to see their reaction to our other upcoming texts, such as Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for making this possible.","fullyFundedDate":1760530250248,"projectUrl":"project/putting-books-in-every-students-hands/9684313/","projectTitle":"Putting Books in Every Student's Hands.","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Holley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10242282_orig.jpg?crop=3456,3456,x864,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757282574996","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10242282"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_58085","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":310,"numTeachers":25,"percentFrplEligible":80,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":94,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":1,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"12.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":71.4,"schoolId":58085,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Raceland - Worthington High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Raceland - Worthington High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kentucky/raceland-worthington-ind-sd/raceland-worthington-high-school/58085"}
